Chalice is the character that made me wonder if horoscopes were valid for fictitious people. Chalice was an elven thief. She was good at what she did, but apparently either lacked common sense or was just doomed. She did make it up to level 8 before she died, so I think it was just being doomed.
I began playing Chalice in July 1999. Her incarnation began normally enough, being hired to go subdue some brigands. While exploring the wizard's tower, she and her companions got sucked into a portal and found themselves in a dungeon maze, but they were separated from each other. Of course, they found each other and escaped the maze, but Chalice found a friend there, a 7' barbarian with a sense of ethics that totally clashed with Chalice's. They spent the rest of her life teasing each other. He called her a coward, and she mocked his name.
On one of their explorations, the group found themselves in a place infested with undead. They opened the door to one room, and as events transpired, she did not get out of the room quickly enough before the undead cast a fireball and the group's wizard cast a fireball at the same time. She died by fireball from an undead. This was not the end, however. Among the companions was a priestess of Hel, who exchanged her life for Chalice's. (The player was looking for a cool way to retire the character.) So Chalice was granted a second chance at life.
Eventually, the group made its way back to its proper world (having traversed Hollow World and Dark Sun on the way). On another quest, they found themselves once again in a place overrun by undead. They opened a door, and BOOM! she got hit by a fireball from a Death Knight. This time, death was permanent.
