AJ placed his napkin over the stain hoping no one noticed his accident. He picked up his glass of punch and went to take a sip. Unfortunately Nick had replaced the cup with a dribble glass so juice spilled all down the front of his tank top and down his chest. "What the hell?! Nick!!"
"What? How do you know it was me?" he replied trying to look innocent.
"No one else would do this," said AJ trying to mop up what he could.
"Well how was I supposed to know you'd fill it with juice?" said Nick beginning to laugh.
"Great, now I'm all sticky. I'm going to take a shower," said AJ heading for the bathroom, Tyke following right behind.
The rest cleaned up the table. Taylor and Nick went out on the balcony. "Tay, you seemed kind of angry at dinner," said Nick leaning against the railing.
"You would too if Kevin kept kicking you while trying to play footsies with Amy," she replied with a faint smile.
"Oh, that would be a good reason. We really need to talk... About what I said on the phone last night. You seemed kinda freaked out about it. How do you feel?"
"I was freaked out. I just didn't know how to handle it and I really still don't. I mean we haven't been going out that long and a serious relationship is new to me," said Taylor leaning against the railing next to Nick.
"I'm sorry if it seemed too fast, but I really do feel that way. I've been in love once before and the feelings I have for you are similar, only three times as strong."
"I care about you so much, but I've never been in love before. I just need some time to think about the feelings I do have for you and determine if it's love. I'm sorry I can't give you a definite response right now."
"It's ok. I understand. I'll give you some space. I do love you and I don't see my feelings changing any time soon."
"Thank you for understanding."
Meanwhile in the house...
"Shhh... Dude you gotta be quiet or he'll hear you," said Kevin.
"I know what I'm doing. Don't worry," said Brian. He crept into the bathroom and picked up AJ's clothes and towels and put them in the living room. Brian, Kevin, Howie, Amy, and Angela sat patiently on the couches. A few seconds after the water had turned off in the bathroom everyone heard AJ yell, "Hey, where's my pants?" They couldn't control their laughter. About five minutes later AJ stormed out in nothing but toilet paper strategically wrapped around him and Tyke hanging from the back.
"Well there's something you could really sink your teeth into," said an unfamiliar voice.
"Uh... who are you?" asked AJ.
"This is our friend Crystal Geyser. She's the leader of the gerbil circus at Caesar's Palace in Las Vegas. She's just visiting Los Angeles and happens to be staying in this hotel," said Amy.
Meanwhile on the balcony...
"How do you know you love me?" asked Taylor.
"Well it's just this feeling that I have and I just know. I'm ecstatic when you're around and dismal, even remiss when you're away. You mean the world to me."
"See, I love it when you say stuff like that to me, and at the same time it scares the living daylights out of me... I promise to give you an honest answer though," she said. Just then they saw a quick flash of light and a small rodent fly across the sky.
"What the...?" said Nick.
"Ah I see Crystal is here," said Taylor looking to see where the animal went.
"Who's Crystal?"
"A friend from Las Vegas who leads the gerbil circus there."
"Ohh..." replied Nick still confused. Both went back inside to see what was going on.
"Not many people could pull that off," said Crystal looking at AJ.
"Not many could put it on either," said Kevin removing Tyke from the back of AJ.
"Nice diapers man," said Nick.
Chuckles and giggles echoed through the room. "This isn't funny. Where are my pants?" asked AJ.
"Why? I think this look really works for you," said Brian.
Taylor took one look at him and said, "AJ, I know you like to be different, but this is ridiculous." He grabbed his clothes off the couch and stormed off to change.
After the hype had died down the girls went home. Brian and Nick stayed up to watch TV and the other three went to bed. "So how did things go?" asked Brian.
"I guess it went ok. She's still confused so I'm gonna give her some time to think."
"That's good. Well I'm kinda tired so I'm heading off to bed. Night Frack."
"Good night." Nick sat staring at the TV screen, his eyes welling up with tears. Not talking to Taylor was going to be one difficult task.
