Brian grabbed a flashlight from the hall closet and crept through the kitchen to the back door. He turned the knob slowly and yanked the door open. "AHHHHHHH!!"
"AHHhhhh... hehe Brian, you silly billy," said Taylor as she stumbled through the door.
"Geez girl, how much did you have to drink?" asked Brian wafting the smell of her breath away from his face.
"What do you mean? I... only had one," replied Taylor, her words running together.
"Sounds like you had a bit more than that," said Brian leading her to the couch.
"Well I had a leaky glass and they had to keep filling it up again," she said grinning as she flicked her shoes off. Brian put a blanket over Taylor and she yawned. "Tell me a story."
"What?"
"Pleeeeease," she pleaded.
"Ummm, I dunno," said Brian in a thoughtful tone.
"Fine. I got one. There once was a man from Nantucket...," Taylor began.
Brian interrupted her. "Woah, ok I got a story. There once was a beautiful princess. One day she had a bit too much of the royal wine. Luckily her handsome and brilliant, no, genius cousin came to her rescue. He cared so much about her with his big heart, that he took care of her until she...," Brian looked down at Taylor who was snoring softly. "Until she fell asleep. Night Tay." He kissed her on the forehead and went back to Tyke.
Taylor woke up with a splitting headache. She turned to the kitchen where Brian, Amy, and Angela were eating lunch. "So she actually came home drunk?" asked Amy.
"Yeah. She was really out of it," replied Brian.
"That's really not like her. Something must have happened," said Angela.
Taylor plodded into the kitchen and poured herself a glass of water. "Afternoon Tay. Want a turkey sandwich?" asked Angela. Taylor turned slightly green and ran to the bathroom with her hand mouth. "I think that's a no," said Angela looking at the other two.
When Taylor finally came back to the table, the other three stared at her as if they were waiting for an explanation.
"So what happened to you last night Tay?" asked Amy.
"What do you mean? I just went out for a drink last night and had a bit too much."
"Yeah right. You never 'just go out for a drink', especially since you're not even of legal age," said Angela.
"You can tell us what happened. We all love you," said Brian taking her hand.
Taylor took a deep breath. "Well it may seem kinda stupid, but I was on the phone with Nick last night. I told him about Tyke and where Brian was. We just talked about stuff. But at the end of the conversation he said 'I love you'. I guess I got spooked. I've never been in love before and I didn't know how to handle it. I went for a drive and somehow ended up at the bar. Then I came home."
"You didn't drive did you?" asked Angela.
"No. I took a cab. I was somewhat coherent enough not to try driving. Which reminds me, could someone give me a ride to the bar later? I need to pick up my car."
