"You can call me Tay if you want," she replied.
"Ok Tay. You can have the bedroom that's the second door on the left. The first door is a bathroom," he instructed.
"Thanks," she smiled. With relative ease, she took her things upstairs. Her room was rather plain with blue sheets on the bed and pictures of his family and the Backstreet Boys' early days sat in wooden frames on the desk. She unpacked her clothes and went to freshen up.
However, Angela had some trouble. She packed a little too much and nearly fell over when she picked up her bag. Trying to hold in his laughter, Brian offered to help. Both Angela and Brian managed to dislodge the bag from its spot on the driveway. Finally reaching the top of the stairs, Brian showed Angela to her room right across the hall from Taylor. Her room too was simple but overlooked the swimming pool in the backyard. Brian looked on as Angela walked around the room and ran her hand over the smooth surface of the oak armoire. Without taking her focus off it, she commented, "You have a beautiful house."
"Thanks. Well, if you need anything else, I'll be downstairs in the kitchen," he said smiling as his blue eyes sparkled from the incoming sunlight. Angela sat on the bed and Brian walked off. She looked around and let out a small giggle.
Amy settled herself in the room next to Taylor. She lay back on the bed and closed her eyes trying to absorb all that was going on. She thought about how the whole way from the diner she had talked to Kevin about practically everything. Suddenly, Taylor burst into the room and said, "This has got to be the best day of my life! Get ready. We're going to the BSB rehearsal at MGM studios in fifteen minutes. I finally get to meet Nick. Isn't Brian the greatest?" she began to ramble. "He's so cool about us staying here."
"Yeah this is so great. Ok, I'll get ready and be downstairs in a few minutes. Are your aunt and uncle coming?"
"No. They decided to stay here and just relax for a while. I'd better go get ready too. See ya downstairs." After Taylor had told Angela about the plan, she went back to her room. She put on a white v-neck shirt and khaki over-alls, brushed her hair, and went downstairs. Everyone loaded into Brian's Jeep.
They pulled up outside MGM studios where the Backstreet Boys were preparing for a concert in two weeks. They stepped through the archway and were greeted with the sweet scent of roses, daisies, and carnations. The six of them meandered down the street only stopping to buy bottled water from a nearby vendor.
Chapter 7
"Yo B-rok. Where ya been?" asked AJ.
"Well I was just settling in my cousin and her friends. Guys," he started as he pulled Taylor forward. "This is my cousin Taylor. Tay, these are the guys."
"Nice to meet you," she said in a quiet voice. AJ stepped forward, shook her hand and smiled. He then went to talk to Diana. Howie greeted her with a big smile and said hi to the other girls.
Nick cleared his throat and said, "Uh, hi. Brian's told me a lot about you."
He gave her a half smile and Kevin piped in, "So what were you practicing when we got here?"
"10,000 Promises," replied AJ.
"Ok, let's do it," said Brian. The five guys gathered and began singing in beautiful harmony. Taylor, Angela, and Amy sat down and listened intently. They periodically looked at on another mouthing the words to the song.
After an hour or so of practicing, sound checks, and rehearsing dance moves, everyone packed up to go home for the night. AJ said, "Hey I have a suggestion. Do you all want to go out tomorrow? That way we can get to know you ladies better."
"Sure... Unless Brian had something else planned," replied Taylor.
"Nope, nothing. Sounds great. Hey why don't we have a BBQ at my house?" said Brian. Everyone agreed and said their goodbyes.
When they got back to Brian's house, Kevin said goodnight and went upstairs to bed. Brian turned to the girls and said, "If you need anything, my room is the one at the end of the hall. Goodnight." Taylor, Amy, and Angela prepared for bed and had no trouble going to sleep after their exhausting day.
Taylor grabbed her suitcase out of the trunk and hauled it into the house. "Hey Taylor," Brian began.
"Hey guys what's up?" said Brian to AJ, Nick, and Howie who were standing near the stage.
