Taylor blinked her eyes into focus. She showered, threw on some clothes and went downstairs. Amy was already in the kitchen pouring herself a glass of orange juice. "You want one?" she asked.
"Sure, thanks," Taylor replied. "Did the guys already leave?"
"Kevin did, but Brian said he'd be back," Amy said.
Taylor sat down at the table when Brian walked in carrying fourteen yellow roses. Taylor grinned and said, "And who would those be for Rok?"
"Umm... Angela," he admitted blushing. "One for each day I've known her... I'm really starting to like her."
"Awww, that is so sweet Brian. She likes you too," said Amy. He smiled and disappeared up the stairs as the two girls went back to their breakfast.
Soon, however, Brian trotted down the stairs grinning from ear to ear. "See you ladies later," he said leaving the house for rehearsal.
"Bye," said Amy and Taylor. Angela came walking in, humming a happy tune. She handed the others their backstage passes for the concert that night. They got into the Suburban and said goodbye to Mrs. Littrell. Mr. Littrell started up the engine and backed out of the driveway. Will Smith's "Miami" came on the radio as the car flew down the freeway. Angela turned up the volume and began to dance in her seat. Amy looked at her friend like she was insane, but laughed and joined in. Mr. Littrell pulled into the parking lot and said goodbye to the girls. They hopped out of the car and walked into MGM Studios. Taylor snuck into a row of seats in the back. Amy and Angela followed her in and sat down. The guys were onstage rehearsing dances moves to "Backstreet's Back". As Nick stepped forward and sang, "Am I sexual?", the three girls jumped up and shouted "Yeah!" which caused startled expressions from all the guys. They continued the song despite the interruption.
"Hey Tay!" shouted Nick through the microphone. The girls hurried down to the stage while the guys took a five minute break.
"Hey beautiful," said Kevin smiling at Amy. She looked slightly surprised but extremely happy.
"Thanks again for the roses," Taylor overheard Angela whisper to Brian.
"Nick leaned down from the stage and kissed Taylor. "You guys sound really great today," commented Taylor.
"You girls can watch from backstage tonight since they sold all the seats," said Brian. Faint screams could be heard from the entrance. "Hmm... Sounds like the people have started to line up. That's are cue to start getting ready. You ladies can hang out in the lounge backstage," said Brian.
Angela and Amy made themselves comfortable on the couch while Taylor got three sodas from the cooler. AJ came running down the hallway in just smiley face boxers screaming, "Where's my pants?! I can't find my pants!" The faint sound of Nick's laughter sent AJ storming down the hall to retrieve the lost clothing. Howie relaxed with his cup of tea while Brian and Nick met in the lounge to chug a couple of high-caffeine sodas.
The prayer drowned out the screams just before the boys went on stage. The crowd was deafening as the Backstreet Boys began to sing "That's The Way I Like It". Even their introductions got the crowd to their feet. Brian stepped forward and said, "Hey Orlando! I'd like you to give a huge round of applause for my long lost cousin Taylor!" She looked horrified, but Angela pushed her out onto the stage. The crowd cheered as Brian had requested. She waved to Diana and Keri in the first row and proceeded to go backstage. Taylor had a huge smile on her face. All the guys except Howie ran off the stage to change. Each took turns singing their respective solos. Nick constantly glanced into the wing during his song as did Brian and Kevin. During the last song, "Backstreet's Back", Taylor, Amy, and Angela went on stage to dance. The whole audience stood up and danced along.
After the guys had showered and changed clothes, they went to Disney World with the girls as promised. AJ and Diana went to ride Splash Mountain and Howie and Keri went to watch one of the night parades. Angela and Brian took the monorail toward Epcot while Kevin and Amy went to Cinderella's castle. Taylor followed Nick to the Fantasmic light show. Multi-colored beams flashed in every direction while holograms showed clips of Disney movies. The fireworks boomed overhead. Turning their focus back to one another, Nick gave Taylor a deep, lingering kiss then said, "I know you're leaving in a week, but... Will you be my girlfriend?" he asked in a nervous voice.
She gazed into his eyes and said, "Yes, I'd love to be your girlfriend."
It was 1:00 in the morning so AJ, Howie, Keri, and Diana climbed in AJ's car and they drove off. Taylor and Nick climbed in the back, Kevin and Amy in the middle, and Angela in the front of Brian's Jeep. On the long trip home, Taylor dozed off on Nick's shoulder. He watched her sleep like an angel. He gently brushed a piece of hair off her forehead and lightly kissed her head. Taylor didn't stir until the car pulled into the Littrell driveway. She kissed Nick goodnight and trudged up the stairs to bed.
Amy's Perspective of Concert Day
Amy woke up unusually late the morning of the concert. She put on a blue tanktop and shorts for her morning jog. Kevin was at the table in jeans and a white tanktop sipping coffee. "Good morning Amy. Want some coffee?"
"No thanks."
"You sure? The best part of waking up is Kevin in your cup!" She giggled uncontrollably at his corny comment.
"Like I can resist." Amy sat down and had some coffee. "You want to go for a jog with me?"
"Oh I'd love to, but I gotta go to rehearsal. How about tomorrow?"
"Ok. Good luck today."
"Thanks." Kevin put his mug in the sink, waved goodbye, and hopped into AJ's car when it pulled into the driveway. Amy, feeling rather flirtatious, blew a kiss as the car drove away.
Amy, deciding to postpone her jog, went back into the house and got showered and dressed. She was in the kitchen once again when Brian came downstairs. "Hi Brian."
"Hey Amy. I'm just going to pick up something and I'll be back."
"Ok." He walked out the door and Taylor came down. Amy poured herself a glass of orange juice. "You want one?"
"Sure, thanks," replied Taylor. "Did the guys leave already?"
Amy explained that Kevin had gone to rehearse but Brian just went to get something. When he came back with the roses, both girls commented on how sweet he was.
The ride to MGM Studios was a blur to Amy. She recalled dancing in the car to Will Smith's "Miami", but the rest eluded her. She followed Taylor into a row of seats and managed to slouch down enough so the guys wouldn't see them from the stage. Amy suggested surprising the people onstage by answering Nick when he sang, "Am I sexual?" She had never seen so many startled faces all at once.
Amy stood at the edge of the stage and Kevin came over to her. "Hey beautiful," he said. "How was your jog?"
"I decided to postpone it," she continued, "You guys are gonna be great tonight. The songs sound amazing." They talked until break was over.
The Backstreet Boys went to get ready for the show while Taylor, Amy, and Angela waited in the lounge. Amy made herself comfy on the couch and sipped her soda. When AJ ran down the hall in his boxers, Amy didn't make a sound at first. She looked absolutely horrified. This only made Taylor and Angela laugh harder.
During the concert Amy hardly took her eyes off Kevin. He ran backstage and pulled her out to dance during "Backstreet's Back."
After the concert, the group decided to spend some time at Disney World. Kevin took Amy through Cinderella's castle. They held hands all throughout the tour. As they walked out the doors, he stopped. "Is this a perfect spot or what? A beautiful castle for a beautiful princess. This has been one amazing night."
Amy felt her eyes well up with tears. "You have no idea."
Kevin leaned in and kissed her. She slowly lifted her arm and placed it on the back of his neck. Amy held him close trying to make the moment last. When they finally pulled apart, she smiled. He looked at the ground and said, "I've been wanting to do that for a while. I like you so much. I thought you were so beautiful from the first time I saw you. But you're so much more. Amy you are talented, smart, funny, and sweet. I'm the luckiest guy to be here with you."
"Wow. I'm speechless... I...," she couldn't manage to say anymore.
They walked back to the car, one arm around one another's waists. Amy sat in the middle of the Jeep and Kevin went in after her. The soft hum of the engine lulled the two off to sleep. They leaned against one another for support.
When they reached Brian's house, Kevin and Amy said goodnight with a soft kiss and went to their rooms.
Angela's Perspective of Concert Day
Angela awoke to the sweet smell of the yellow roses. Brian sat in the chair near the window and smiled when she opened her eyes. "Hey you," she said.
"Morning. Did you have sweet dreams?"
"You bet."
"Was I in any of them?" Brian asked grinning.
"Hehe... Wouldn't you like to know... So are you leaving for the concert soon?"
"Yeah. We've got last minute checks, so I'm going in five minutes. I just wanted to bring you these and tell you I'm glad you're here. I'll see you in a bit." He handed her their backstage passes and went downstairs. Angela took her time getting ready. She had a huge smile plastered on her face that wouldn't seem to go away. She began humming a random tune that came into her head as she went down the stairs.
Angela gave the passes to Amy and Taylor and proceeded to the front door. She got into the Suburban with the others. As soon as Will Smith's "Miami" came on the radio, Angela moved to the beat and danced in her chair. Amy soon joined her. Taylor looked out the window and received peculiar looks from other drivers.
Angela held back her urge to squeal when they entered the MGM parking lot. She followed Amy and Taylor into a row of seats to watch the guys rehearse dance steps. Taylor bust out laughing when the girls took the liberty of answering Nick's "Am I sexual?"
Angela hurried down to the stage straight to Brian. "Thanks again for the roses," she whispered to him. She was happy to hear that the three girls would be watching from backstage. Any chance to see Brian made her happy.
She plopped down on the plush couch while Taylor handed her a soda. Just as Angela took a sip, AJ came running down the hall in his boxers. She took one look at him and spit out the drink. Nick's victorious laugh gave away the culprit.
During the prayer before the show, Brian held Angela's hand. He squeezed it gently and let go. She waited anxiously in the wing while he sang. When Brian announced Taylor, Angela immediately reacted and pushed her friend out onstage. Taylor's face went from shocked to euphoric when the crowd cheered.
After the hat dance for "All I Have To Give", Brian ran backstage and said, "We're gonna do 'Backstreet's Back'. Come dance with us!" The girls ran out onto the stage and followed the dance steps they'd seen countless times. The audience rose and danced in their places.
DisneyWorld looked beautiful all lit up. The ten arrived together, but went separate ways. Brian led Angela onto the monorail. They stopped at Epcot to see the light show. He had a boat waiting for the two of them. Brian rowed out into the middle and they watched the countries light up. Angela's eyes sparkled from the reflection of France. Brian moved closer to her and they kissed.
The whole way to the car they held hands. Brian opened the passenger door and Angela climbed in. During the ride home, she glanced back to see Taylor asleep on Nick's shoulder and Amy and Kevin asleep leaning against one another. Angela turned to Brian and said, "Well it looks like things went well for your cousin."
"Which one?" he responded.
"Both," she replied smiling.
The car pulled into the driveway. Angela kissed Brian and went upstairs to her room.
