Taylor got up at 6:00 the last day of her trip. Three weeks had gone by so quickly. She felt a lump growing in her throat. Taylor didn't want to come down from Cloud 9. She was having the best time of her life.
She showered and dressed. Amy and Angela were sitting at the top of the stairs as if they were waiting for something.
"Morning Ang. Morning Ames. Umm... why are you waiting here?"
"Kevin's at the bottom of the stairs. He won't let us go down until he says we can. I think they're planning something," said Amy in a loud whisper.
Brian appeared at the bottom of the stairs. "Good morning ladies. You can come downstairs now."
"Ok." The three girls walked down cautiously. AJ was in the kitchen wearing a frilly apron cooking eggs, bacon, and pancakes.
"Surprise!" yelled Brian, Kevin, Howie, and Nick. They seated the girls around the table which had a rose at their place settings.
"We decided to make breakfast for you since it's your last day and all," said Brian.
"That's so sweet of you thanks," said Taylor.
"BREAKFAST!!" yelled AJ flinging a pancake in the air, which smacked Howie in the face. AJ tiptoed over and peeled it off. "Sorry man."
After the laughter had died down and everyone had been served, they sat down. Brian raised his glass of orange juice and said, "A toast to a great three weeks. I'm so glad that I got to meet you Taylor. You're a wonderful addition to this family and are always welcome here, which goes for Amy and Angela too. Angela, thank you for making me so happy. You're an amazing person and one hell of a basketball player. Amy, I haven't seen Kevin this euphoric in a while. You two are great for one another. So here's to many more get-togethers."
"Here, here!" said everyone.
When breakfast had ended and they cleared up, the group sat down in the living room. Nick and Taylor settled on the couch and held hands. Kevin sat in an armchair and Amy sat on the floor in front and leaned against his legs. AJ and Howie sat on the floor with Keri and Diana around the coffee table. Brian and Angela sat on foot stools opposite the couch. They talked amongst themselves for a while. Brian took Angela's hand in his own, "I'm really gonna miss you. This is different for me. Usually it's me who goes away." She gave him a small smile, but still had a faint look of sadness on her face. Brian gently touched her cheek. He softly began singing a lullaby his mother had sung for him many years ago. "They say parting in such sweet sorrow, but let's not think of it that way. The time we spend apart, serves only as remembrance for the happy times..."
Taylor stopped her own conversation and began singing along. Brian gave her a slightly surprised look but continued singing, "It will always be your smile that'll keep me happy."
"How do you know that song?" asked Brian.
"My mom used to sing it to me all the time," Taylor replied, "I thought I was the only one who knew that song."
"Me too," said Brian. He paused for a moment then continued, "There's so much I still don't know about you. It sucks that you have to leave so soon."
"We'll definitely be getting together again," said Amy.
"Maybe you guys can visit us in California," suggested Angela.
"Oh we will," said AJ.
"You can show us everything AWAY from the Hollywood scene," said Howie.
"Of course we will," said Taylor.
Nick looked at his watch and said, "Umm, it's time to go."
Amy threw her arms around Kevin and said, "It's too soon. I can't believe it's over."
"Yeah, but we'll see each other again soon. We've got another break from performing coming up in a month," said Kevin soothing Amy.
Amy and Angela went upstairs to gather their things. Taylor went into her aunt and uncle's room. "It's time for us to leave," Taylor said.
Mrs. Littrell got up and went over to her niece, "I'm so glad you could come with us. I'm sorry we're not going back with you."
"It's alright, we'll be fine. We're just disappointed to be leaving this place."
"We'll be doing this again soon. Harold and I are glad you girls had such a great time. You certainly made the guys happy." They hugged and Taylor went out of the room.
The way to the airport seemed too short. They stood by the terminal to say their final goodbyes. Nick picked up Taylor and swung her around. He gave her a passionate kiss and continued to hold on to her. Angela rested her head on Brian's shoulder. He kissed the top of her head and closed his eyes not saying a word trying to hold back his tears.
Kevin sat in one of the chairs near the terminal and stared out the window. Amy came over and plopped down on his lap. "Don't look so sad," she said kissing him on the forehead. "We'll be together again before you know it."
"I know, but I'm still gonna miss you like crazy," he replied hooking his arm around her waist.
"Final boarding call for flight 876 American Airlines to San Francisco," announced the speaker.
The girls gave their final hugs and slowly walked through the terminal. They took their seats on the plane. Taylor was next to the window. She peered out and looked over at the airport building. There were the guys with their faces pressed up against the window making puppy-dog eyes. She laughed a little and waved. Turning back to her friends she nodded and said, "THAT was a great trip."
