"Morning Brian," Taylor replied yawning. She sat down and poured herself a bowl of cereal.
"So what do you think of Florida?" Brian asked.
"It's so much better than I ever imagined... I want to thank you."
"What for?" Brian asked looking slightly puzzled.
"For letting us stay here, for being so nice, and for being related to me." Brian chuckled at her comment. "So things between you and Angela seem to be going well," Taylor said.
"Yeah. We've got a lot in common. I'm really starting to like her. Plus, she's one heck of a basketball player." Both laughed. "She sure does have an interesting sense of humor, like that prank she pulled on the boat a couple days ago."
"Yeah, that's Angela for you."
"Things between Nick and you seem to be going well too. He really likes you, ya know."
"I like him too. He's sweet, and talented, and great to be around..." she paused for a moment, "This is so much fun. Sitting here talking to my cousin." They continued to talk for an hour or so more until Angela and Amy came downstairs. Brian left soon after to run some errands. The three girls sat around the kitchen table to talk about their amazing trip.
"Oh, Kevin is soooo cute. I am having the best time of my life," said Amy gushing.
"Yeah, he seems really nice. Brian is absolutely gorgeous. His eyes sparkle and he's sooo funny. I was practically turning red with laughter yesterday while we were talking in the backyard."
"Tay, has anything happened between you and Nick yet? You seem to be awfully close," said Amy raising one eyebrow.
"Nothing beyond what you saw on the beach. I like him a lot... Enough about me. Angela, you know Brian likes you right?"
"What?!? Are you sure?" Angela stood up.
"Hey, maybe we could all go out tonight," suggested Amy while the others looked confused. "Kevin asked me out." As the girls calmed their giddiness, they made plans to go to a new Italian restaurant.
The table was set for ten. Each place setting was elegant and the table was positioned away from the rest of the people dining at the restaurant. They were quickly served and they began to eat. About halfway through dinner Amy was trying to conceal her giggles with a napkin. Taylor gave her the most peculiar look until she realized what was so funny and she herself started to laugh. Finally Amy spoke up, "Uh Kevin, you've got spaghetti sauce in your goatee." He turned pink and buried his face in a napkin.
The rest of the night went smoothly. They took turns dancing with one another. AJ and Diana showed off their swing dancing skills as the rest cheered them on. During a slow song, Brian and Angela danced close, her arms loosely draped over his shoulders. Amy rested her head on Kevin's shoulder and his arm clutched her waist. Nick hesitated at first but slowly put his arm around Taylor and pulled her close. She took a deep breath and smiled at him. The song droned on and Taylor's thoughts ran a mile a minute. As the last notes played, she pursed her lips, reached up and kissed Nick softly on the lips. He looked a little surprised, but smiled. "What was that for?" he asked.
"Compensation for being interrupted the last time," she said. No one else seemed to take notice of the two. They gathered their things and went home for the night.
"Morning cuz."
