Well I'm begining a project that I have wanted to do for some time; the construction of and ultralight airplane. I have always loved aviation. I, like many, started wetting my taste by building and flying R/C aircraft. I started that hobby over 20 yrs ago at the ripe old age on 10. Hopefully I will be able to build and fly UL's for another 20 years or more.
This project started by ordering a set of plans from Roger Mann of RagWing Aircraft. I chose a wood and fabric design due to its ease of construction. The design of the Ragwing RW6 allows it to be flown as an Ultralight; therefore, no pilot's license is required. That said, I will be seeking some flight instruction prior to flying this airplane. As with an earlier project (chopper) I am trying to build this within a reasonable budget. I hope to come in under $3000.
