This website is designed
by Karen Wilson-Lane in loving memory of her late father,
Derek Wilson of Brisbane, Queensland, Australia who
sadly passed away on 7th July 2001 aged 57, after a
long and courageous battle with cancer. It
is intended for all those who knew Dad, his family and
friends in Brisbane, Australia and in Manchester,
England where he was born and raised, and for all
the dear friends he made the world over, including those
from the Lighthouse.
Dad asked for these final words to be spoken to his
family about his life "Don't cry because it's
over, smile because it happened". I hope that in
sharing these special memories and tributes with you
all, we will all be able to smile once again.
About
Dad's Life
I
have included Dad's Eulogy, on this
web site. It was written by Jan Saunders, the Celebrant who
performed Dad's Service. It is a truly warm and moving account
of Dad's life. Please take the time to read it.
Tributes
There are three Tributes to Dad on this site. My own
tribute, A Daughter's Tribute,
a tribute from his son Lee, A Son's
Tribute and a tribute from his friend, Terri (from
the Lighthouse), A friend's tribute
. All three tributes were read out at Dad's service.
Lee and I read our own tributes and Terri's poem was
read out by the Celebrant. It was a very moving service.
Photo
Album
I have included a Photo Album
on this web site. Please feel free to browse through them.
I'm sure those who knew Dad will have a great laugh at
some of the photographs, especially those from the famous
New Year's Eve fancy dress parties. I hope they bring
back some fond memories for you all. For those who didn't
know Dad that well, and for his friends in the lighthouse,
the photos will hopefully give you an idea of the great
character he was.
