My Writing
I started as a writer of fiction and poetry. My fiction has appeared in Eldritch Tales magazine, and my poetry has been published in The Oil City Review. Why is there none on my pages? Well, these pages are not for fiction and poetry, and I find publishing my own work of this sort to the web distasteful. That's what magazines are for.
Gaming
The fateful moment in my life occured when I was about 11 years old. A friend came over to play and brought the AD&D Monster Manuals I and II (which he had borrowed from another friend). I looked upon them with wonder, and I was hooked. It would be several years before I owned these books for myself. But I never forgot how incredibly cool they were, and thus Kaz the Gamer was born.
I ordered catalogs and read the descriptions of all available games hungrily. I wanted to play so badly, but I didn't have the money to buy the rulebooks. So I began creating my own games. They were primitive compared to modern RPG's and wargames, as I had no knowledge of how real ones were set up. But they were damn fun to write and play, and so Kaz the Designer was born.
I played in my first AD&D campaign in highschool. My biology teacher was the DM, and she was the best DM I've ever had the priviledge of playing with. Soon after I bought my own books and in no time at all I was creating my own campaigns, dungeons, and house rules.
Then I discovered other games, other genres, and from there it only grew. I bought magazines and continued to read catalogs. I earned money and spent it on used rulebooks and small press games (small press are cheap and alot of fun, a great place to start).
I kept designing over the years, and my designs got better and better. I now have several designs either completed or in the works that I am very pleased with. I decided to start a business to sell my designs. Thus Kaz the Merchant was born.

My Interests
I am still very much a gamer, though I have very little time to actually game these days. I don't write much fiction or poetry anymore, except poetry for my girlfriend (heh). Right now I'm focusing on my business, and gaming in general, so all current writing tends to be game rules or game related in some fashion. I am a huge film buff, and my interests vary widely in this area. I like horror, sci fi, modern, espionage, drama, suspense/mystery, and just about everything else. The same goes for music. My CD collection features Wagner and Slayer, and just about every kind of music in between. I like a little of everything.
Gaming is much the same, I like RPG's, Wargames, Miniature wargames, beer and pretzel style games, and an occasional card game, though that's rare indeed. Most of my favorite games are older ones, such as AD&D 2nd Edition and Twilight:2000. I plan to start writing material for AD&D Ravenloft setting, as well as material for Tunnels and Trolls, and Everway. All will be available here at my Dojo when the scrolls are complete. I find it more satisfying to write new things supporting older products with a loyal base of fans than writing yet more for the current favorites which are still supported by a deluge of products from the publisher.
I also enjoy video and computer games. My 2 favorite Playstation games are Final Fantasy Tactics and Tactics Ogre. They appeal to the miniature gamer in me, as well as the roleplayer. When it comes to computer games, my favorites are Mechcommander, Baldar's Gate, Soldiers at War, Steel Panthers, Wing Commander (all of them, including Privateer: The Darkening, and WC: Prophecy) and Warhammer 40k: Chaos Gate and Rites of War. And yes, I still play Genesis and Sega CD too. For Sega CD my favorites are Snatcher (my all time favorite video/computer game) and AD&D: Eye of the Beholder. For Genesis its ShadowRun, BattleTech, and Pirates!Gold. Not to mention Doom Troopers, Operation Europe, and Liberty or Death.
My New Passion
Recently someone told me about a computer game for the Apple II called Wasteland. I downloaded an apple emulator and the program...and loved it. A new hobby was born. Now I have a bunch of Apple games, and a ton of old PC games. For the PC I'm Playing Twilight 2000, Tunnels and Trolls: Crusader of Khazan, Megatraveller, Space 1899, and Megatraveller 2. (Yeah, just like my console system favorites, these are all RPG related).

Kaz's Want List
Here is a list of things I want to acquire. I do not trade, as anything worth trading I find worth keeping. If you have any of these items and wish to sell them for cash, however, I'm your man. Little green portraits of dead presidents are not very exciting to me, and I will happily part with those to get these items into my hands. Of course, I don't find them boring enough to just throw them away, so a reasonable price is key to successfully parting with my dead presidents. If you wish to sell any of the following, email me at [email protected] stating which item, the condition of the item, and the aforementioned reasonable selling price, and we'll talk. Don't be shy about offering a battered and worn product, I want them to play, not collect, so as long as they're complete I'm interested. Don't expect as much cash for a battered game as you would for one in excellent condition, however.
