Play-Dough
ingredients; 1 cup flour 1/2 cup salt 2 Tbsp. vegetable oil 1 tsp. alum food color
Add food color to water before
mixing.
Add small amount of water
at a time til consistancy of bread dough.
Store in an airtight container
or ziploc bag.
Clay

Mix; 1 cup salt 2 cups flour 1/2 cup water 2 Tbsp. vegetable oil
After shaping, clay can be
baked at 150 degrees for several hours to harden creations.
Creative wonders can also
be painted with non-toxic paint such as fingerpaints or poster paints after
drying process.
Homemade
Silly Putty
Mix; 2 parts white glue (Elmer's) 1 part Sta-Flo liquid starch
It needs to dry a bit before it's "workable". Store in airtight container.

3 Tbsp. sugar 1/2 cup cornstarch 2 cups cold water food coloring
Mix dry ingredients and then
add the water. Cook over low heat, stirring constantly until well blended.
Divide mixture into 4 or 5 portions and add a different food color to each
section, plus a pinch of detergent. The latter facilitates easier clean-up.
No
Cook Paste
Mix: handful of flour
Add: water til gooey
Add: a pinch of salt
Also makes a good finger paint
by adding some food coloring and working it on heavy paper or cardboard.
Modeling
Dough
3/4 cup flour
(use any kind except for self-rising flour)
1/2 cup salt
1 1/2 tsp. powdered alum
1 1/2 tsp. vegetable oil
food colouring
1. Combine flour, salt, and alum in a mixing bowl.
2. Add vegetable oil and boiling water. Stir vigorously
with a spoon until well blended. Dough should not
stick to the sides of the bowl and should be cool
enough to handle.
3. Add food colouring and knead into dough until
colour is well blended and the dough is the desired
tint.
Makes about 1 cup. Double the recipe for large
projects. For groups, mix several double recipes
rather then one large amount.
How to Use it: This is an excellent play dough. It has
a smooth texture, takes about 15 minutes to make,
and dries to a hard finish overnight. Use it to make
lovely dough flowers as well as animals and other
figures. Store in a jar with a tight lid. Dough will
several months without refrigeration.

1 c Cornstarch
Combine ingredients
in saucepan. Using medium heat
and stirring constantly,
cook until mix is doughlike.
Refrigerate until cool;
then knead a few minutes. Roll
on floured waxed paper
.

Colored Tempra Paint OR
Food Colors
Mix 2 qts. plaster of
Paris w/ 1 part water. Mix in
desired color. Pour
into paper towel or TP tubes
(about 3" high). Let
dry thoroughly (may take several
days). Remove from
tubes and give to your favorite
artist.

Peanut Butter Playdough
1 c Creamy peanut butter
1 1/2 c Instant
powdered milk
3 tb Honey
Mix. Add more honey if too
dry or more powdered milk if to moist.
Baking
Soda Recipe
2 cups Baking Soda
1 cup Cornstarch
1-1/4 cup Water
In
a medium saucepan, stir baking soda, cornstarch, and water together. Cook
over
medium
heat, stirring constantly, until it resembles mashed potatoes. Place in
bowl
and
cover with damp cloth until cool. Store in sealed container.

In
medium saucepan, mix salt and 1/3 cup water over medium heat, stirring
occasionally
(about 3-4 minutes). Remove from heat and add cornstarch, food
colouring,
and 1/4 cup cold water. Will resemble mashed potatoes. Stir 'till thickens,
cool,
then knead. If it's too sticky, add a little more cornstarch. Store in
sealed
container
with piece of damp sponge up to two weeks.
