Kay has been an avid watcher of Star Trek  and the spin offs since it first appeared on British TV and has picked up a few books along the way.

Quote: -

"Whilst the story is fictitious the programme broadens one's breadth of view and is a reflection of how society has developed over my lifetime. The concept of different species working closely alongside one another does help to break down barriers in ones mind where they have been planted there by your family and society at large whilst you were growing up. It also helps to reflect how insignificant we are when you conceive how vast our and other universes are and how much we have yet to accomplish. We are told that one day our Sun billions of years from now will prevent life from continuing on this planet. Our ultimate survival of all our descendants depend on our technological advance so that when this time dawns we can vacate planet earth and move to a new world. How much we have yet to do! Star Trek opens the mind and expands the imagination and I have found the stories to be profound in their concepts. To dismiss these programmes because they are fiction is short sighted and if some of the ideas of people working together were put into practice by the nations of the world, poverty, disease and hunger would be regarded as things in our past that we have conquered. To travel where no man has gone before has always been inside of each and every one of us and Star Trek takes us one step nearer to the path that we are destined to follow, even if it only shows us how we could regard and treat all of our neighbours on planet earth. My imagination has been fed by these stories. I Salute Captain Kirk and all those who follow in his footsteps."
