HAPPY NEW  YEAR!!  Sorry for the lack of updates.  We sure seem to keep busy!  Weekends go toooooo fast---especially with Cory working most of them!  The past few months have been extremely busy!

Kaylyn had a fun October with 2 birthday party to attend along with dance every Sunday afternoon and Sunday School.  She continues to have more and more to say everyday!  It is so much fun to listen to her talk about school and daycare.  We have lenghty conversations on the way home from daycare.  She loves her teacher and always talks about her.  One day, Lana (Kaylyn's teacher), went home sick during the morning.  I asked Kaylyn about school and she didn't have much to say.  So I asked, "Was Lana there?"  She said, "No, Lana got sick!"  I said, "Oh, so who was your teacher."  She thought and thought "Um.....Um........Um"  Then shrugged her shoulders and said, "I don't know!!!!"  It's so funny to see the body movements and "slang" words that they pick up from observing adults.  It really makes us conscious of what we are saying and doing.  We went trick-or-treating on Halloween in Bottineau.  Gramps had games in Bottineau and needed Daddy's help so at halftime of the game we went ot the nursing home and the armory for candy.  The kids weren't too excited about it---they had more fun wearing their costumes at the basketball game and getting treats from fans!

We spent Thanksgiving in Bottineau with the whole Johnson clan.  Kaylyn always has fun playing with Max and Jake.  She was even part of "The Turkey Bowl" family football game.  Another highlight of that visit was playing basketball at the Woodshed---MSU Bottineau's basketball court.  Gramps, Mommy and Auntie played too!

December has been super busy!  We were busy preparing for G and G Mac's visit---Kaylyn's church Christmas Program and Monday daycare---when a big storm hit---freezing cold temps and lots of snow.  G and G made it here safe but all our weekend adventures ended up getting canceled.  It was lots of fun to just enjoy time together and not have to run off anywhere---the bad part of it all was that Kaylyn's program was canceled and did not get rescheduled.  Daddy did take Grandma, Mommy and Kaylyn out in the storm to attend a Christmas Ballet performance that Kaylyn LOVED!  Kaylyn got to open a few presents early so that kept her entertained while we were stormed in.  When G and G left that Tuesday morning, Kaylyn and I had an adventure on the way to school.  The breaks went out in the van out in our alley---thank goodness that was where it happened.  Needless to say we had to be creative to get to school----Kaylyn was in the warm van while our neighbors helped pull us out of the alley which made her late for the bus at Betty's.  The bus ended up having to come and pick Kaylyn up at the house and you would have thought the world ended--_Kaylyn screamed and cried because she didn't get to have a muffin and story at Betty's like she usually does---it really started the day off on a bad note.  We spent several days as a one vehicle family while the van was getting repaired.  IT was an adventure---finally made us realize that we need to get a new, reliable vehicle, so that will be our 2009 adventure!!  The funny part about all of this is that every day now, Kaylyn points to the alley and says, "Mommy, don't get stuck!"

Christmas was a busy, busy time again this year.  We spent Christmas Eve and Christmas Day in Bottineau.  It ended up being quite an adventure as Grammy had to have surgery on her foot so we layed up while we were there.  The grandkids had a hard time staying away from Grammy's foot and were really curious about her huge boot!  Kaylyn was very surprised on Christmas morning when she saw that Santa brought her a set of golf clubs.  We have plans to do golf lessons and play at the Wee Links golf course this summer!  She also got lots and lots of new toys to play with.  From there we traveled to Wahpeton for a night and then off to the cities with G and G Mac to celebrate Christmas at Todd and Abby's.  We spent 2 nights at a hotel so Kaylyn got lots of swimming in.  We had adjoining rooms so she went back and forth from G and G room to mom and dad's room.  We were able to attend Abby's baby shower while Daddy, Todd, and Grandpa went to the Vikings game.  Kaylyn really enjoyed playing with Todd and Abby's dog, Ruby.  She also got lots and lots of My Little Pony toys---including a My Little Pony Shirt that she has been wanting forever!!

Kaylyn also had her 6 month eye check-up in Minneapolis.  She had a great appointment with some disappointing news---Her eye doctor is relocating to Boston.  It's so hard to have doctors move away when you have been through so much with them and they know your child so well.  He is very confident in his replacement so that is comforting.  He did make Mommy tear up a little bit---he told us that he is thankful for the opportunity to work with Kaylyn as she is truly a miracle in every sense.  He continues to be amazed by what she sees and said that he can not explain it.   With all the lasering done to her eye, she should not see what she does.  He also told us to be prepared for another surgery in the near future to strengthen the eye muscle in her right eye.  Next appt will be in June.

Thanks for checking in on Kaylyn!  I know I am forgetting some incredible stories so I'll try to be better about updating this year---one of the many new year resolutions I have made!  Hope all is well with all of you!  We continue to count the many blessings in our lives, especially our remarkable daughter!
