After you finish making your children clothes, save the scraps and make a matching outfit for their doll.
Practice new sewing techniques on doll clothes.
Instead of discarding clothing you no longer can wear, use it to make doll clothes.
Shop at thrift stores and yard sales to find clothing that you can cut up for doll clothes.
Wait until Joanne's has a sale to buy your doll patterns. Several times a year you can get patterns for 99 cents. Stock up on your doll patterns then.
Use velcro to fasten the doll clothes. It's much easier for children to handle than snaps or buttons.
Be sure to measure the pattern to make sure it will fit the doll. Some patterns that specify that they fit the 18" doll run a little small.
