SEWING FOR DOLLS TIPS

  • After you finish making your children clothes, save the scraps and make a matching outfit for their doll.

  • Practice new sewing techniques on doll clothes.

  • Instead of discarding clothing you no longer can wear, use it to make doll clothes.

  • Shop at thrift stores and yard sales to find clothing that you can cut up for doll clothes.

  • Wait until Joanne's has a sale to buy your doll patterns. Several times a year you can get patterns for 99 cents. Stock up on your doll patterns then.

  • Use velcro to fasten the doll clothes. It's much easier for children to handle than snaps or buttons.

  • Be sure to measure the pattern to make sure it will fit the doll. Some patterns that specify that they fit the 18" doll run a little small.
