| I dream I dream about a time when we were kids when it all didn't matter When we stayed out all day playing baseball in the street with all the others. We used to create our own adventures and some adventures were there to begin with. The old lady who has the bee-hive hair with the 1950 car who lived next door. We were all scared of her because we thought she ate kids Remember those nights talking about when we would grow up and get married at 21? Well now your near 21 and you don't see yourself anywhere near married Or engaged or involved. But you dreamed it. We dreamed when we were sixteen how it would be so cool to hang out with the Big Kids We dream about when saturday morning cartoons was an accurate account of the REAL world Now your source is the 6 o'clock news I dream now. And I wake up. I realize the problems are so much bigger. And everyone who played baseball is gone. And that old lady has died and you realize now that she was just a lonely lady and not the witch you made her to be. And your friends now aren't your friend then. And you don't know who to turn to when you want to reminence. Now you're not too sure you'll ever get married And your 16 and you can't wait to become an adult. And get some respect! And now the problems are more serious A little more deep rooted then not getting a Barbie To dream as kids do With the expectations the wonder the hope. the innocence I dream. |
