The Cast

LIANG
Character Name: Liang Xi'huan
Gender: Male
Species/Race: Human
Age: 19
Birthplace: Belladur
Occupation: Used to be 'The Mercenary for Hire'.

PHYSICAL CHARACTERISTICS
General Apperance: Liang is a rather tall and imposing young man, standing at 6'2". His hair is a raven black color, shading his pale green eyes. There is a certain air of nonchalance around him, hanging on him like a cloak. Maybe it's his casual clothes that hint at his rebellious nature. Maybe it's the way he talks and presents himself to others, carefree and natural, almost to the point of naivete and sillyness. Maybe it's the way he carries himself with liquid grace and elegance. Whatever it is, it works wonders because he never seems worried, stressed or serious.
There are no visible weapons on him and he probable doesn't have any, except the scant knowledge of fist fighting he's picked up. Bleh, it's not as if there's actually someone in the world of Tharia who wouldn't like him! Well, there is a possibility, so he carries a few smokebombs in his small leather pouch. (To, er, escape, you know.)

Strengths: Pretending, lying, smiling, taking everything in stride and not being stressed.

Weaknesses: Though he has good judgement, the fact he never gets stressed or worried makes things lose their meaning to Liang. He sometimes gets ahead of himself and goes ahead, never thinking of the risks and dangers. Also, his emotions are always bottled up inside, and he has trouble defining himself. Is he the smiling mask? Or is he the confused person inside?

MENTAL CHARACTERISTICS
Current Goal/Purpose: He used to have no goal. However, due to an 'accident' involving an old forgetful freelance mage and a lot of 'oops'-es, it's now getting rid of that annoying, dreadful voice in his head! No, seriously, that's his current goal.
Talents: Having been born and raised in Belladur, Liang's speacialty is being a con artist and lying! He stumbles occasionnally (hey! No one is perfect!) but usually (and I said usually...!) manages to smooth it over with another lie... or two.

Inabilities: Well, Liang does have a serious problem with telling the truth. It's stronger than him and he tends to be a drama king and tell stories in order to either confuse others or just to mess around with their heads a little. It's difficult to tell whether he's telling the truth or not because of the casual and mild way he says it, as if it doesn't matter if you believe it or not.

He can't seem to be formal either. He speaks casually, usually with flair and drama, never missing a chance to make a "dramatic entrance" into someone's life.

Fears: His biggest fear is growing to be ugly! Well, that's what he tells everyone who bothers to ask him. In fact, he has (and don't go repeating this around) a huge fear of rats. Yes, he hates rats. There is just something about the twitching muzzle, the beady red eyes, the yellow sharp teeth that he can't stand!

General Personality: Well, the way he carries himself around, as if nothing could get in his way, you'd figure everyone hates him! But there is something about him, maybe his innocent and playful air, his charming turns of sentences, or many smiles, that draws others to him. He doesn't seem to have a care in the world, doesn't seem like anything could ever bother him, takes nothing seriously and never seems to have anything happen to him that he didn't plan. He over-dramatizes everything to the point of satirizing and making it seem ridiculous and unimportant.

Inner Personality: Not what he seems is a perfect way to describ him; he was, after all, raised in Belladur, where thieves and con artists run rampant! Inside, Liang is a very hypocrite person. Oh, he may say you're pretty and thinking you're as ugly as dirt and frogs. (Eh, ignore the crappy comparaison) Often times, he'll manipulate and pretend to get what he want. It's not that he doesn't have a sense of honor; he does. However, the only rule in that book of honor is, never ever lose. He doesn't, either.
Another thing to mention, if you hurt his pride, his honor or his amour-propre, he won't forget it and will get his revenge, however subtle, sneaky and unoticeable his revenge may be. Little things like people pushing hair out of their faces, or twitching annoys him greatly, though he doesn't show it.

Secret: That there is a voice haunting him at the back of his mind!! His fear of rats! (I mean, come on, rats!)

HISTORIC BACKGROUND
General History: As you've already picked up by now, Liang was born and raised in the city of Belladur. Both his parents worked hard and often left him alone for long periods of time. His mother was a waitress at a local restaurant while his father sold little gadgets to the tourists. Needless to say, there weren't a lot of tourists and people often left the restaurant without leaving tips, so life was hard.
Liang's parents, amazingly, were hard-working and honest people. However, Liang was left mostly to his devices and his parents were too busy working their butts off to really re-inforce the rule of morality to their son. The lessons he was most taught was 'good guys always finish last'. He even experienced this lesson, watching his parents struggle with surviving on hard-earned money while the neighbours could afford a party every week because they stole it off of others.

Present Life: Liang has gotten himself into trouble. A few weeks back, he accidently irritated a freelance mage. (He hadn't known the traveler was a mage, or else he would have been more careful...) The said magician left him a scroll, which held a curse and left him hearing a horrible 'conscience-voice-thing' in his head. And that voice thinks he's a horrible know-it-all and cracks cheesy jokes all the time. Talk about irritating. Liang desperately wants to get rid of this voice and wants to find someone with real magic to get rid of this curse!

Special Historic Notes: You'd think he's had had a girlfriend before, right? Well, he hasn't! Never been hooked up for more than three days straight!
