Shun'u Kou was born on a small farm in Kou-shuu, Taitoshi, at the base of Mount Leikaku to his overbearing and out-spoken mother and easily intimidated father.  Shun'u got his dislike for women by being raised with his five older sisters, Jiang, Li'an, Pa'liu, Mai, and Aidou.  This lifestyle forced the fifteen year old youth to leave home and venture out to the city of Souun to make a new life for himself.

At the base of Mount Leikaku, he was beset by rogues from Mount Kaou.  Even though this scrawny teenager didn't pose much of a threat, he still defied them as they sought to rob him.  He was saved by an impressive young man named Hakurou with the aid of a magical tessen that spewed fire with an incantation.  In awe, Shun'u begged Hakurou to let him join the bandits that he was the leader of.  Hakurou refused until Shun'u arrived at the stronghold before Hakurou.  He reconsidered and gave the youth the name Genrou in honor of his speed and elognated canines.

Another youth named Kouji was placed in charge of Genrou.  In a year's time, Genrou became a man and impressed Hakurou greatly.  He was then made aware of the symbol on his arm and that ir meant that he would have to leave one day to persue his destiny as a Suzaku Shichiseishi named Tasuki.

After trials and skirmishes with the Mount Kaou bandits, Genrou was named successor to Hakurou.  Knowing that his leader was dying of a disease, Genrou left to find a cure.  Finding no cure, he returned only to discover that Hakurou had died and a lazy bandit named Eiken had taken the post and claimed the tessen as his prize.

In retaliation, Genrou kidnapped who he thought was the fat slob's bride, the recently captured Suzaku no Miko.  With her help and the aid of his old friend Kouji, Genrou was able to reclaim his post as leader.  In order to avoid his destiny, Genrou had lied to his Miko.  However, he couldn't deny what he was fated to do and eventually followed her.  In the end, this young bandit leader named Tasuki not only saved the country of Konan, but two worlds as well.

Tasuki is very corageous, adventurous, and loves stepping up to a challenge.  Endowed with a firey temper, Tasuki never hesitates to tell things like they are, although his mouth occasionally gets him into trouble.  Tasuki is extrememly open, and definitely stands up for what he believes in.   Though rough on the surface, and slightly rude and smart-aleck, Tasuki is very kind and loyal to his friends.  Because of his quick temper, he can at times be a little insensitive, but is redeemed through his inner honesty and straightforwardness.  Fun-loving, Tasuki is always ready with a quick comment or sly joke to cheer others up.

Tasuki speaks with an accent in his speeck.  This accent is known as Kansai-ben, and it is the dialect used in Osaka.  Kansai-ben uses slightly different pronunciations of some of the sounds - it's a really thick accent.  The rest of the uniqueness of Tasuki's speech is that he swears an awful lot.

Although Tasuki says he hates women, he is not inexperienced with them.  In face, one of requirements for joining the Mount Leikaku bandits was earning a reputation with women.  In order to banish the last shreds of childhood and become fully a man worthy of being a bandit, the candidate must have shared intercourse with a woman.  As added assurance, the ritual had to be verified by a fellow bandit.  In order to accomplish this, Kouji took Tasuki to a brothel.

Tasuki is voiced by the entertaining Nobutoshi Canna (formerly known as Hayashi) who is known for his others roles as Parn from Lodoss Wars and Gawl from Generator Gawl.  Yuu Watase, the creator of this series and Ayashi no Ceres, had to help Nobutoshi get the pronunciation of the Kansai-ben dialect down as he was not from Osaka as she was.
