| What a ride!!! Up and ready to go at 7:00 am. We drove to the South Bend South Shore train station in time to catch the 8:00 to Chicago. We arrived in our official garb sporting our red and pink hats. People loved us! Along the way we were treated with red hat Christmas tree ornaments with our names and dates of our trip. Our goody bag also included mints, bubble gum (need I say more about the bubble blowing contest, won by Pam Manarik...winner since 6th grade), and red beads, etc. Queen Colleen provided us with other prizes along the way (purple key chains, red and purple nail polish, purple hair brush, etc.) Of course we couldn't wait for such treasures! Everyone wanted to be next, just like when we were much younger. (The red beads became part of our attire and were given to excited children at the Lion King . . . whom by the way just happened to think we were the coolest!!!) A brisk walk to our hotel then we were all off to various activities from shopping at Marshall Fields, Navy Pier and Architechical tours to visits to the Art Museum. Before supper we met and welcomed Sandy and Mary from pink hatters into the official circle of the REDS. It was a touching ceremony, with a few tears shed. Sue became our center of attention with her pink, obviously showing the rest of our trip as she remained the only pink amoung us. |

| Supper was at the House of Blues! After being properly entertained, the evening was called, for all of us were tired. | |||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
| Saturday morning started with breakfast at local establishments followed by exercising and /or more shopping. The Lion King! WOW! We were all in awe, none of us barely stopping to breath between the, "Ahhhhhs!" It was magnificent!!!! There are no words to describe our feelings for the show. We all brought home many treasures from the play. After the show it was off to lunch at the 312 Chicago. Our waiter was a cutie and we were wild with excitement discussing the play. The food was great and again a wonderful time was had by all. We all talked on our ride home about what a great itme we had . . . although some of us nearly missed the train home, thank-you slow man at the hotel!!! But. . . patience prevailed again and Sandy did not have to lay down on the tracks to stop the train for us!!! The best part of our trip, in addition to our obvious sharing of sisterhood, which in itself was awesome, was the compliments we received. Everyone, I mean from the young to the old to . . . everyone on the streets complimented us on our attire and our sisterhood and celebration of wearing of the colors! It was such a warm feeling to see so many people not only ask what we were all about, but also want to join . . . Ladies, we are making strides by leaps and bounds!!! Again, a great time by all and The Reds and the Wantabes are ready to do it again! Vegas in 2004!!! Queen Colleen |
