Missing Years, Healing Hearts... Missing Years, Healing Hearts... Missing Years, Healing Hearts...

Chapter 2

The next morning Maria awoke after having the same dream yet again...

She was in the ocean water drowning, gasping for life.... Ben was no longer in sight. “Help, me!” She cried. “Pleeeasse.... HEELLP!” The angry waves forced her down underneath the surface. Suddenly someone pulled her out of the stormy water up onto a boat. The man looked familiar. She could almost make out his face. At first the sight of his face comforted her then it horrified her. She screamed. He laughed nastily, grabbing hold of her and not letting go...

Maria sat up in a cold sweat. “Why can’t I remember?” she whined. “Who pulled me out of the water?” She closed her eyes as she tried to recall something... anything. Still nothing new. She sighed deeply.

“Maybe writing it down again will help,” she said aloud as she reached over to the nightstand and picked up her diary... one she just started keeping with entries only pertaining to her missing years and shortly beforehand. As she thumbed through the first few entries she skimmed them again. “I can never let Ben see this. No one can ever see this,” she thinks silently.

Meg woke up before Ben and watched him sleep for awhile. Quietly she got out of bed, dressed and went downstairs. As it was a particularly bright and sunny morning she walked outside onto the veranda and gazed out at the ocean watching the waves madly rush ashore. Silently she thought...

I hope Maria will remember soon. I do want to help her but Ben and I are finally married and I want us to be able to get on with our lives. Maybe start a family...

Meg began daydreaming about what their future together would be like, how perfect it would be. Startled she jumped when she felt someone behind her, “OH!”

Ben laughed, “I didn’t mean to scare you.” He said as he wrapped his arms around her and bent down gently kissing her neck.

“Ben,” Meg whispered as she leaned back against him.

“Morning, darling. You were a thousand miles away. What were you thinking about?”

“Oh... just us,” Meg said as she turned around facing Ben, his arms still firmly encircling her waist. “And our future... I was just daydreaming,” she smiled up at him.

“Well I do intend to make all your dreams come true, Mrs. Evans,” Ben smiled and kissed her gently.

“I have a lot of dreams, Mr. Evans,” Meg chuckled lightly.

“We have a lifetime together, now don’t we?”

“Yes we do.” Meg kissed Ben and after a few moments she said, “Before we can concentrate on our dreams though we still need to help Mar...”

Ben put his finger in front of Meg’s mouth to quiet her, “Now I don’t see any reason why we can’t do both. After all we aren’t going to be helping Maria 24 hours a day.” Ben kissed his wife again, this time with great passion.

They both heard a distant ringing and realized it was the phone. Ben sighed, “I’ll get it.” He hurried inside, “Hello.”

“Ben, Ben... please, you have to come over! Please Ben...” Maria cried into the phone.
