IF YOU NEED A FRIEND

You came like a phantom, out of the night
The words on the screen, only a poet could write
You touched my soul, with the words you did say
You awakened some feelngs I had hidden away
You talked of the love you had and then lost
I feel your pain, I too, know the cost
To love so completely, day after day
And the devastation it brought when the love went away
I hope that you read this, I want you to see
These things you are going through, have happened to me
Perhaps there's a reason in that room you did land
Perhaps if I reach out, you'll hold out your hand
No one should go through this pain all alone
Everyone, sometimes, must lean on someone
I know how you feel, like this is the end
But I'm here if you want me, if you need a friend.
