Katse- 2hrs,
75R Visit the site of Chief Katse's former home. Learn
about the man whose village became the site of one of Africa's
largest dams, his namesake. Although brief, a fun and informative
trek.
Mt. Manyofane-
5hrs, 100R Trek to the top of Mt. Manyofane, for a
spectacular view of not only the areas surrounding Katse Dam but
also the mountain ranges of the Mokhotlong and Qacha's
Nek districts. You can also catch a glimpse of Thabana
Ntlenyana, Lesotho's highest peak, weather permitting. On the
way back, stop in Ha Sepiriti for a performance of the
traditional Basotho singing, called Mokhibo, by local
women.
Khopung
Waterfall*- Overnight 295R + 55R (for village accommodation) Trek
downstream from Katse Dam along the Maliba-Matso River
and then head up to the traditional village of Bochabela.
Sit back and relax, as villagers perform Basotho songs and dances
for your group and , after dinner, get a good night's sleep at the
chief's place in traditional Basotho rondavels. In the morning,
head out toward the Matsoku River, to pick up the peculiar Khopung
Waterfall (30m), home to the beautiful Bald Ibis. Head
back to Katse, afterwards.

Kolberg-
Overnight 295R + 55R (for village accommodation) Trek south
from Katse towards the traditional Basotho village of Kolberg,
a bird watcher's paradise. Have a rest at the base of the cliff
that rises over the village, home to the beautiful Cape Vulture,
the Bald Ibis, and a host of other birds. Head down to Kolberg,
where your group will be greeted with traditional Basotho singing
and dancing. The following morning, trek up to the top of the
cliff for a majestic view of the area on your way back to Katse.
Mt. Manyofane to
Bushmen Paintings to Kolberg- 3days 2nights 430R + 110R (for
village accommodation) Trek up to the top of Mt. Manyofane
for the beautiful view and head down to the Bushmen Paintings in Khohlo-Ntso (an area rigged for rock-climbing for those
interested- climb at your own risk; equipment not provided). Stay
in Ha Seperiti and enjoy performances of traditional
Basotho singing and dancing. In the morning, head to Kolberg
(see previous) and return the following day.
Mt. Manyofane to
Ha Suoane- 3days 2nights 430R + 110R (for
village accommodation) An incredible journey into the heart of
Lesotho. By way of Mt. Manyofane, trek west, upstream from Katse
Dam, through friendly villages to arrive at Ha Suoane, literally
the end of the road. In the morning, trek out to the pristine
lands beyond the village, home to all sorts of bird-life,
reedbuck, incredible wildflowers, and more. Catch breathtaking
views at the bushmen house at Serobeng Pass, the fabled cave at
Haha-la-Basali, and at Mt. Sekhonyana, to where Chief Sekhonyana
fled during the Boer Wars. After lunch, return to Ha Suoane for
performances of traditional Basotho singing and dancing. Return
the following day.
