Some ponies were given, some were bought new, others were bought second-hand. This page was really for my own purposes, but lots of people who saw it thought it was interesting too. If you want to read more about this kind of stuff, see my memories section of the Scrapbook.
This is straight from the book that my mother kept full of gifts that my brother and I recieved (F.Y.I. We start on my brother's birthday, 1984). I always received gifts on my brother's birthday, and he got stuff on my birthday as well! Over the years, my brother's ponies have been assimilated into my collection, of course!
Brother's
2nd Birthday
* I gave him Blue Belle. I assume it was from the second set (concave foot),
but I don't have her anymore.
* He gave me Glory. Check out the pic of me receiving her in my photos
section of the Scrapbook. Still have her too!
My 4th
Birthday
* My Aunt Joye gave me a Sea Pony - I assume it was Wavedancer since she's
the only one I can ever remember having. I still have her AND her clamshell.
She was the highlight of bath time for many, many years.
* Mom and Dad gave me the Pom-Pom Pony Wear set. I still have the original
skirt and shirt.
* My brother gave me "Pony Sleepwear," which I assume is Sweet Dreams. I still
have my PJs, nightcap and one original slipper.
* Our friends, the Nelsons, gave me the Waterfall set. All I have left is
Duck Soup. :-( How sad.
* My great grandmother gave me $3 that I spent on a pony apparently - probably
Cotton Candy (which I still have), but who knows.
Christmas,
1984
* Santa brought an unnamed "Baby Pony." I'll go through the pictures from
that year, but it wasn't Baby Moondancer or Cotton Candy and I can't remember
having any others that would've been out in 1984...
Easter,
1985
* The Easter Bunny brought Windy. She was one of my favorites too - I still
have her.
Brother's
3rd Birthday
* I received a "stuffed unicorn," and the photographic record (and my brain)
shows that it was open-mouthed Moondancer Hasbro Softie. She's among the lost.
My 5th
Birthday
* Great Grandma gave me $3 that I spent on Sunbeam - still have her.
* My Aunt Patty gave me $5 I spent on the Mother and Baby Pony Wear - Snow
Angels. I have both dresses, Mom's hat, four baby skates and three mommy skates.
* My friend, Kirstie, gave me Baby Cotton Candy. I don't have her anymore
- just her replacement.
Christmas,
1985
* Santa or my brother (hard to tell... Mom's chicken-scratch is odd at times)
brought me Baby Moondancer. I don't have her anymore, but I think I have some
of her accessories.
* Grandma gave me Pony Luv Pony Wear - would you believe I have everything
but the dress still?
* Aunt Patty gave me Pony Workout from the Mother and Baby Pony Wear sets
and I only have the mother's hood still.
My
6th Birthday
* My bro got me Flashprance Pony Wear. I have all of my original pieces except
for three of the leg warmers...
* Aunt Patty gave me $5 that I either spent on SoSoft Gusty (still have her),
or she gave me her on top of the money...
* Kirstie gave me SoSoft Northstar (still have her).
* Kirstie's younger sister, Mackie, gave me Mother and Baby Pony Wear Prima
Ballerinas - which I still have both leotards, both tutus, most of the shoes,
but only two baby leg warmers.
Christmas,
1986
* Santa brought me Baby Gusty. I still have her, but I can't get her hair
to lie down for the life of me...
* Santa also brought the Baby Bonnet School of Dance. I still have Baby Half
Note, her tutu and leg warmers. I also have a few of the baby animals too
- I had the pink and yellow set.
* Santa was kind that year - he also gave me the "Rodeo Outfit," which must
have been Best of the West (a little late for it, I know, but that's all I
can think of). I only have the saddle now.
* Aunt Patty gave me SoSoft Northstar number two. I have both of them still.
Brother's
5th Birthday
* I was given Twinkle Eyed Locket. I still have her, but her curls are all
gone.
* I was also given some MLP puzzle, but I don't remember what it was and I
don't have it now.
My 7th
Birthday
* Kirstie gave me Princess Serena, which I still have. I think I still have
her crown and comb.
* Mackie gave me "Megan and Sundance," which wouldn't be right, since I only
had them as Twice as Fancies and 1987 would've been too soon for that, so
maybe Mom meant "Molly and Baby Sundance," since I had them. I can only find
Baby Sundance.
* Someone named Bambi (Mom says she was a friend of mine...) gave me SoSoft
Taffy, which I still have. She's in really good shape too - and I played with
her a LOT.
* A friend, Lisa T., gave me Princess Tiffany. Still have her, her Bushwoolie
and her hat.
* Great Grandma gave me $3 that I spent on Pony Wear Sidewalk Surfer. I'm
only missing the headphones and one kneepad from that one.
* Aunt Patty gave me $5 that I spent on Baby Tic-Tac-Toe. I still have her.
I can't believe my mother noted that she was a "First Tooth Pony!"
* My brother was given Lucky. You believe it?!? I still have him and his bow
tie.
Christmas,
1987
* Mom and Dad gave me Satin and Lace. It was the purple one with pink hair
and I still have her, but that's it. Someone (not me) cut off her forelock!
I think one of my friends thought it got in the way of her veil...
* Granny and Opa (my mother's parents) gave me Paradise Estates!!! Talk about
a girl's dream come true! I don't have any of the buildings now, but I do
have a lot of the furniture and odds 'n ends.
* My Aunt Ginny Belle (cool name, huh?) gave me what looks like Baby Bouncy
(Mom's penmanship strikes again). She also gave me the six-pony carry case.
I still have both.
* Aunt Patty gave me Rattles and Tattles. Both of them are still around -
I also have their little panties. My 8th Birthday
* My friend, Gabrielle, gave me a Watercolor Baby Sea Pony and some Pretty-Ups
(probably the fish ones). I have Sealight and Foamy - both with their floats!
* Kirstie gave me the other Watercolor Baby Sea Pony.
* Mackie gave me Spunky, which I still have and her hair is just the greatest!
