The swearing in this movie is extremely harsh. One hundred and ninety three swear words are said, a lot of them from Lee Ermey's mouth. The majority of the swear words are the "S" word or the "F" word. If you don't like swearing in movies, then this might not be the best movie for you.
War Violence
There are several scenes, especially the second half of the movie that deal with combat. Scenes contain gunshots, firing on Vietnamese civillians, dead bodies, and bloody images.
Sexual Content
There is no real nudity in the movie. There is however a lot of sexual dialogue. A pair of breasts can be seen in one of the privates magazines. Two Vietnamese hookers offer their body for sale, using sexual dialogue. The sexual content is not near as bad as the language.
Racial
The "N" word is used three times. When the one prostitute comes, she makes reference to the black soldier being to "big".
This movie is most deserving of an R rating. The war violence is enough to get the movie at least a PG-13 movie, the swearing pushes it over the top. Though most of the language is not needed, it adds a touch of comedy to the opening sequence.
