I grew up in a Presbyterian church, attending youth group & church on Sunday and took trips and helped the community with other kids and friends my age. There were a core few of us that stuck together - Tiffany, Todd, John, Charlie, Nathan, Andrew, Jen and I. We enjoyed each other's company while attending church like "good people" do. Then around 10th grade in highschool, I started seeing church and religion and God in the same but new light. It was more personal. It was more fun. (Who would have thought?) It was so clear. It's not about religion. It was there in high school, through friends, FCA, and through Jesus that I began to see the real truth. God sent His only Son to die for me. A free but undeserving gift of unconditional love. It wasn't about how good of a person I was. It is all about Him. Jesus, perfect and without sin, died so that I may have life. Going to Heaven was no longer something that I strived for by good works, it was given to me as soon as I asked. Faith is not just believing. Faith is trusting what you believe. You can believe that an airplane can fly, but you won't get on until you trust that it is safe. Do you believe in God? Do you trust Jesus? He is the safest place you'll ever have to go to. Not only that, the Bible says "I am the way, the truth and the life. No one comes to me except through Me" So, if you were like me thinking that you get to Heaven by being good and doing nice things, think about it. Why would Jesus have come to the earth to die? If it was about your good deeds, then the focus is put on you. By asking Jesus to be the Lord of your life your sin is paid for. It is so simple yet so needed. "For none are good, not even one" and "for the wages of sin is hell." We all need Jesus!
