Group Vacation to Eressos
After our second field trip, we decided to take a vacation. We rented two cars, crammed six people into each car, and drove off to Skala Eressos. Eressos is on the far west coast of Lesvos, and has a black sand beach, as seen in the picture above. That was incredible. HOT to walk on during the day, but so cool. Eressos is also the home of the legendary Greek poetess, Sappho. Rumor has it that Sappho was attracted to women, and since people from Lesvos are called "Lesbian", that name became attached to homosexual women. The city is now a sort of mecca for lesbians, so we had an interesting vacation, being 10 girls traveling with two boys.
We got to the beach around 5, and wandered around the town. We had enough time to check into our hotel and wade before getting drinks and dinner.
All the restaurants in Eressos are right on the beach, allowing patrons to have a great view of the sunset.
Here is one shot of the sunset. I need to borrow some pics from Kara to scan in, so check back for updates.
