AP Language and Composition

September 4th A/C and September 5th B/D

Today we went over our course syllabus and had a chance to get to know each other. One of the most important elements of a well-managed classroom is for students to celebrate the accomplishments of others and respect their differences. It is essential for educators as well. This summer I read a fascinating book entitled How Full is Your Bucket, and I decided to bring it to the classroom because it could be very beneficial to the learning environment. I put a packet on the website for anyone that was absent. In the packet, you will find the theory behind “The Dipper and the Bucket,” and you will also learn about what happens when negativity takes over(the story of North Korean POWs). One of the things I want you to do this year is pay attention to the positive things that others do in our classroom and “write a drop” to show your admiration. There is also a positive impact questionnaire. Fill it out and use it for future reference. Fill someone’s bucket today because in the long run, you will fill your own as well.  Packet

Please have your parents sign the course syllabus as well. If we do not complete the “Where I’m From” poem in class, please complete at home. Both of these assignments are due next class.
