In Theatres

Pirates of the Caribbean 2 (Dead Mans Chest),
starring Johnny Depp, Orlando Bloom, Kiera Knightly, Jack Davenport, the rest of them from the first one and Bill Nighy.
Naturally the first one is best but I thought this was just as fun to watch as the first one. The humor is still there, Captain Jack is still there, the sea creatures are creepy, and theres a 3-man sword fight. What more could you ask for?

Superman Returns, starring Brandon Routh, Kevin Spacey, Parker Posey, James Marsden, and some really skinny woman.
Awesome. This is what new Superman should be, its classic. Brandon Routh occasionally looks identical to and sounds just like Christopher, and occasionally much hotter than humanly necessary. Kevin Spacey and Parker Posey are fabulous.

The Omen, starring Seamus Davey-Fitzpatrick, Liev Schreiber, Julia Stiles, Mia Farrow, and David Thewlis (from Harry Potter).
Appropriate amount of creepiness and slightly gruesome scenes. And that kidfreaky. Adorable, but freaky. Nothing award-worthy but just what I was hoping to see on 666.

Cars,
starring (the voices of) Owen Wilson, Bonnie Hunt, Paul Newman, Larry the Cable Guy, and Michael Keaton.
One of the best animated movies Ive seen in a while. Probably the best since Finding Nemo. Its very clever, really well done and fun for kids because it keeps up the pace. Its equally fun for adults without adding too much adult humor that the kids wont get. The music is great as well.

I figured I should put my excessive movie-going to some kind of use. Here I'll tell you if I thought the movie I paid $5.75 (with student discount) to go see was worth it. Plus I'll just continue adding to my favorites list, so if you get tired of the same old movies some day you can check out my list and watch one of those movies. Maybe you will find it helpful or maybe it will just give me a good reason to go see more movies this fall!
A good film is when the price of dinner, the theatre admission and the babysitter were worth it.

DVD and Video

The Libertine, starring Johnny Depp, John Malkovich, and Samantha Morton.
Johnny is fantastic (obviously) and he has such a great character in this. Not your average villain; and not a villain in the way you would normally think of. Hes a villain to himself more than anything. Theres not really a good guy in the movie. Definitely not a family flick, but Id certainly watch it again.

The Seventh Seal, starring Max Von Sydow.
Its a 1958 Swedish movie in which Max plays a game of chess with Death and nothing really happens but its fun to watch because its a 1958 Swedish movie in which Max plays a game of chess with Death.

The Beat that My Heart Skipped
, starring French people that you wouldnt know.
I really liked this and the main French fella was quite nice. It was funny, sometimes hard to follow but fun to watch. If you dont speak French and dont like subtitles then youre not going to want to watch this, but if you do then I can tell you more about it.

Mrs. Henderson Presents, starring Judi Dench, Bob Hoskins and Christopher Guest. Fantastic! You gotta love Judi and she's at her best in this movie. I could definitely watch this one a few times.

Breakfast on Pluto, starring Cillian Murphy and Liam Neeson. About an Irish cross-dressers search for his mum and his true love. Excellent movie, Cillian makes a better woman than many women. He's so pretty. Liam of course is flawless. (Velvet Goldmine-ish at times.)
