What happened? Where have we gone wrong? Why do we weep over the
one-night stands they play before us on the movie screens? Why, when
we advise our children on marriage, do we tell them to keep
a condom ready before and an exit route after?
And what in
God's name is wrong with staying with the person you marry?
I know it isn't impossible. My parents have six children, they've been
married for 18 years. My mother was 19 when they married, was she wise?
I don't know, but I doubt it. They look like children in their wedding
pictures; they're really hardly older than I am now.
