Photos of monkeys from Bijilo park
After the slaughter of the rams, we escaped to the nature park.  Here Kate is greeted by the local green monkey troup.  They love peanuts, and will take them right out of your hand.  Very gentle - and they really do have little hands, just like ours!
As you can see, there is a whole family.  There is a real pecking order - truly survival of the largest.  The big males chase away the babies, who consequently get less to eat.  Kate did her best to be equitable, but was only partly successful.  The monkeys have learned how to shell the peanutes by rubbing their hands together, like a boy scout lighting a fire in the woods!
Aren't they cute!  We spared you pictures of the red monkeys, because since they were too scared to come down from the trees, the pictures aren't too clear.  Here's a baby green monkey up close and personal.
