Early photos of Kate and Ben in the Gambia - our first week or so
Here is the Arch commemorating Independence from Brittain.  It greets all visitors on the main road into Banjul.  Its the highest building in the Gambia, and was designed in 1996 by a Senegalese Architect.
Believe it or not, the Gambia only has one traffic light - and this was only installed a few months ago.  Here's the signe just before the intersection trying to instruct drivers what to do when they see it!  People drive better than might be expected, but biking still an adventure!
On Sunday's all the VSO's in the capital region tend to meet up at Leybato beach bar.  The Brits play rugby around 4 pm, but the rest of us have  a bit of lunch, catch some rays, go swimming, catch up on news and gossip etc.  Not what we expected on VSO, but even volunteer batteries need recharging after a while!
