�I'm a dad!� the man tells her.
�Oh congratulations.� she says to him.
�Thanks, do you wanna come and see my new son?� the man asks her.
�Oh, well, I'm supposed to be getting back to my friend.� She says to him.
�That's okay, I can bring Stuart in to see your friend too if you want.� the man says.
�Oh, well, okay.� Vanessa gives in to the man.
�So, where's your friend?� asks the man.
�Oh, he's just in here.� Vanessa opens Benji's door.
�I won't be a minute, wait here.� he says before running off to the maternity ward. He comes back carrying the most beautiful baby Vanessa has ever seen.
�Aww, he's so gorgeous.� Vanessa coos over the baby.
�Who are you?� Benji asks the man with the baby.
�I'm Dan, and this is my beautiful son Stuart.� Dan shows Stuart to Benji.
�Aww, he's cute.� says Benji.
�So, what are you in for?� Dan asks Benji.
�I was stabbed.� Benji tells him.
�Aww man, that sucks.� says Dan.
�Yeah.� says Benji.
�Well, I should get going, Stuart's mum will be wanting him back. She's so protective of him. See ya, get well soon man.� says Dan, before leaving.
�Sorry,� Vanessa says to Benji. �He wouldn't take no for an answer.�
�It's okay, I guess he just wanted to show his kid to the whole world.� Benji says.
�Yeah, I guess so.� says Vanessa.
�What time is it?� Asks Benji.
�Erm, eight thirty.�replies Vanessa.
�Wow, time went quickly last night.� says Benji.
�Yeah, well you were asleep through most of it.� Vanessa points out.
�You know I meant it earlier when I said I'm gonna write you a song.� says Benji.
�You don't have to.� responds Vanessa.
�I want to.� Benji informs her.
�Oh okay,� says Vanessa. �Are you feeling any better now?� she asks.
�Yeah, it still hurts a bit but...� Benji is interrupted by two policemen entering the room.
�Are you Benjamin Madden?� one of them asks.
�Yeah.� Replies Benji.
�Sorry to disturb you so early in the morning but we need a statement from you. I'm DI. James and this is DI Sanford, Greater Manchester Police.� says the policeman, they both hold up their badges..
�Okay.� says Benji.
�We're going to need to speak to you alone if that's okay.� says DI Sanford, glaring at Vanessa.
�Well Vanessa was there, she probably saw more than I did actually. Can't she stay?� requests Benji.
�Well, if you'd prefer it if she stayed, I guess that's okay.� says DI James.
�Can you tell us exactly what happened yesterday?� asks Sanford.
�Well, we'd just finished the show and Joel and I went outside to talk with the fans...� begins Benji.
�Joel?� interrupts the policeman.
�My twin brother. We were just chatting with some fans, like posing for photos and signing autographs, when all of a sudden this guy runs up to me, sticks a knife in my gut and then runs off.� Benji explains.
�Can you describe the suspect?� Sanford asks.
�Well, I didn't really get a very good look at him, but he was wearing a pale blue tracksuit and he had the hood up over his head. He looked quite young, about 15 maybe.� describes Benji.
�Was he alone?� asks DI James.
�Yeah, I think so.� says Benji.
�Can you confirm this description?� the police ask Vanessa.
�Yeah, I didn't get a very good look at him either, but I saw him running from the scene. He had blood all over his hands and clothes. The hood fell down off his head and he had short light brown hair. Oh and he was wearing white trainers.� As Vanessa talks the police take notes.
�Is that all you can remember?� the police ask Benji and Vanessa.
�Yeah, you'd better speak to Joel too, he probably saw the most.� Benji tells the police.
�Get him to give us a call later.� says DI James, handing Benji a business card. Then they leave.
�Wow, that was hard. They made me feel like it was my fault,� says Benji. �Thanks for staying with me.�
�That's okay. They were pretty mean, especially that Sanford guy,� says Vanessa. �I'll be back in a sec, I've gotta go to the bathroom.� She walks out of the room and down the corridor towards the toilets. She comes back out of the toilets to see a crowd of journalists hanging around in the waiting room. The receptionist is trying to get them to leave. Vanessa rushes back to Benji's room.
�You're not gonna like this...� she begins.
�Like what?�
�There's a whole bunch of journalists down the hall.� Vanessa tells Benji.
�Shit, you're kidding?� says Benji.
�I wish I was. They all have cameras too.� Vanessa continues.
�Can you go and talk to them while I try and get hold of Joel. Just tell them you're the girl who saved my life.� Benji says to Vanessa.
�Well, okay. But I'm not very good at talking to people.�
�You'll be fine. Good luck.� Benji smiles at her. She heads down the corridor towards the journalists. She feels a knot in her stomach.
�Erm, excuse me,� she says. �Are you here about Benji from Good Charlotte?� she asks one of the journalists.
�Yeah, that's right love. You know where he is?� the journalist replies in a strong cockney accent.
�I'm the girl who saved his life.� Vanessa says.
�Really?� the journalist sounds unsure. �So what happened? How did you save him? How is he now?�
