| Back to page two No he won't, the doctors will help him. He might have just pulled one of the stitches or something. Vanessa says, trying to stay calm. A couple of minutes later everything is quiet. The doctors and nurses have all left Benji's bedside. Vanessa was right, he'd pulled one of the stitches out by accident. You should be a doctor. Joel says to Vanessa. No way, I don't like hospitals.she responds. Join the club, says Benji. Anyway, you guys should go get some sleep, it's getting kinda late. Okay, I'll bring you some clothes and stuff in the morning. says Joel. Yeah that'd be useful, I don't think this hospital gown suits me. Benji laughs. Joel, Billy, Paul and Chris all head outside. Vanessa follows a little way behind. Where do you live Vanessa? We'll give you a ride. says Joel. Oh no, it's okay, I only live round the corner. she tells him. Are you sure? It's no trouble. Joel says. No honestly, it'll only take me a few seconds to walk there. Vanessa insists. Well okay, you gonna come back here tomorrow? Joel asks her. Erm, well, I don't want to get in the way. says Vanessa. You wouldn't be in the way, anyway I think Benji would like it if you were to visit him again. Joel tells Vanessa. Okay, then I'll see you tomorrow. Vanessa says as the guys get into a black car. Vanessa walks home and goes into her bedroom. She climbs into bed and lies there for about two hours, unable to fall asleep. She gets dressed and walks back to the hospital. She walks back into Benji's room. He's asleep so she sits down quietly in the chair at the side of the bed and reads a magazine. A while later he wakes up. Whoa, what are you doing here? he asks in a surprised voice. Oh, erm, well, I, erm, I was worried about you. stutters Vanessa. Oh okay, you should really go and get some sleep though. he says to her. I tried but I couldn't stop thinking about you. She admits. Oh okay. What magazine are you reading? Benji asks. Oh, just one I picked up from out in the waiting room. Its got a really crappy quiz in it; find your perfect partner. It's really lame. laughs Vanessa. Go on, ask me the questions. says Benji. Okay then. Number one, which season best describes your personality? Spring, summer, autumn or winter? reads Vanessa. What kind of question is that?! I think I'll go for spring. Or maybe winter, no definitely spring. Okay. Number two, where would you rather go on a date? Restaurant, beach, celebrity party or museum? People go on dates to museums? Wow. I think I'll choose the beach. answers Benji. Right, onto number three. What is your dream job? Company executive, rock star, super model or trucker? Oh yeah, I've always wanted to be a super model, jokes Benji. Well I guess I have to say rock star don't I. he says. Yeah. Question four, you are at a party, what is the first thing you do? Dance, grab some food, go to sleep or get drunk? Asks Vanessa. Hmm, grab some food I think. Although it depends whose party it is. says Benji. Last question. Which of these foods do you like most? Sushi, pizza, roast turkey or bread? Erm, well bread is a bit too exotic for me, I'll choose pizza. Benji says. Okay, you got mostly Bs. says Vanessa. What does that mean? asks Benji curiously. Apparently your perfect partner is someone who likes to keep things simple, but they're not boring. They don't care much about appearance, but sense of humor is everything. If you were in danger they'd do anything to protect you. You'll find your perfect partner right in front of you, but you may not notice them straight away. When they make you smile you'll realize they are the one for you. Vanessa reads. Right, what did you get? asks Benji. The same as you. Cool, says Benji. So when I get out of here we'll go to a rock star party on the beach and grab some pizza. Sounds good to me. Vanessa smiles, Benji smiles back at her. There's silence for a few seconds. Oh no, we'll have to cancel the rest of the tour. Benji realizes. Yeah, you can't go on stage yet, you'll rip your stitches again. says Vanessa. Aww man, I'll have to go home and be bored in LA again. Benji complains. What's it like there? Vanessa asks. It's okay, but everyone's really shallow and boring. explains Benji. Well apparently your perfect partner isn't boring remember. Vanessa reminds him. Yeah, she doesn't live in LA then obviously.sighs Benji. I'm gonna go get some coffee, do you want anything? Vanessa asks. I can't. Benji says, pointing to the 'nil by mouth' sign above his head. Oh right, sorry. I won't be long. Vanessa gets up and walks out to the coffee machine. On her way back she bumps into a man who's running down the corridor. On to page four |
