Teen Seeker Ritual

One of the most confusing things to a beginning Wiccan is initiation. If you ask 10 different Wiccans about what to do you will get 11 different answers. Some Wiccans are firm believers in only being initiated after 1 year and 1 day, a time when you are supposed to know that you want to dedicate your life to Wicca. Others think that you can only be initiated in a coven, after recieving all kinds of degrees and so forth. Still others think that once you are initiated you are magical and recieve all kinds of powers and are perfectly in tune with the Goddess and God. Except for the last one, these are all perfectly legit opinions, yet they can be a real pain to beginners, especially teens who have no access to a coven. My friends and I found a simple method for a teen who is not sure about Wicca (or whose parents have informed them that Wicca is grounds for disownment yet still want to practice), but wants some sort of official beginning ceremony. Instead of doing a complete initiation, or even dedication, from which there is no escape, we did a "seeker" ritual, which we found in Teen Witch By Silver Ravenwolf. This ritual establishs that you are interested in Wicca, yet are unsure as to whether it is perfect for you. This is a safe ritual as you establish in the ritual that you might drop out at any time, so there is no need to worry about being struck by a lightening bolt for breaking an initiation.
