Preamble: This organization is formed to provide interaction and communication among local Speech-Language Pathologists and Audiologists.  Its purposes shall be to:
                    
1.  Share clinical experience and expertise with fellow Speech-Language Pathologists and Audiologists.
                    
2.  Provide opportunities for members to improve their clinical skills through continuing education
                                 programs.
Article 1: 
Name: Kankakee Area Speech, Language, and Hearing Association (KASHA)

Article 2:
Code of Ethics: The professional conduct of the members of the group shall be governed by the Code of Ethics of the American Speech, Language and Hearing Association and the Illinois Department of Professional Regulations.

Article 3:
Authority: The organization will consider itself an ISHA area group and will follow the bylaws and Code of Ethics of the Illinois Speech, Language, and Hearing Association.  The group will have a member to represent the group at Representative Council.

Article 4:
Membership:
A.  Eligibility
     1.  Individuals shall be eligible for membership in the Group.
     2.  Members shall be defined as Speech-Language Pathologists and Audiologists who are ASHA
          certified and/or hold a license, are license eligible, or license pending upon completion of the
          clinical fellowship year.  Undergraduate and/or Graduate students may attend the meetings/
          programs for a reduced fee.
     3.  An Affiliate membership shall be available to those individuals who are not eligible for regular
          membership and who possess and interest in human communicative processes and disorders.
B.  Rights and Duties of Membership
     1.  A member shall be considered in good standing if that member remains eligible for membership
          and is current in payment of all dues and fees.
     2.  All rights, privileges, and interests of a member in the group shall cease upon termination of
          membership.
     3.  Any member may resign, upon submitting written notice of such intention to KASHA.
     4.  A member, having resigned in good standing, may re-apply for membership.
C.  Affiliate Membership
     1.  An affiliate membership shall be available to those individuals who are not eligible for regular
          membership and who possess an interest in human communicative processes and disorders.
     2.  An affiliate member shall have the rights and privileges of regular members except that they
          may not vote, chair committees, nor hold elected office.
D.  There shall be no discrimination against any member or applicant for membership due to race,
      religion, creed, color, gender, age disability, ethnic origin, sexual orientation, mental status or any
      other characteristic by the laws of the United States or the State of Illinois.

Article 5:
Fiscal Year and Dues:
A.  Fiscal Year
     The fiscal year shall be from September 1st through August 31st.
B.  Dues
     1.  The annual dues for members shall be recommended by the Executive Board and approved by
          two thirds (2/3) of the members present at the final meeting of the fiscal year.
     2.  Dues will be used to pay for agreed upon speakers for the group, workshop materials, cost of
          printing, postage and any other appropriate expenses recommended by the executive board.

Article 6:
Authority
The governing body of KASHA shall be the Executive Board, which is subject to limitations by statute,
and these Bylaws.
The Execuative Board shall adopt regulations for the conduct of KASHA business, and may designate
agents on their behalf, as they consider necessary.
Officers
A.  Eligibility
     Any member in good standing shall be eligible to be an officer of KASHA.
B.  Elections
     1.  The final meeting of the fiscal year shall hold elections.  Terms of office shall begin September
          1.
     2.  The officers of the Executive Board shall be elected annually for one-year term and shall include
          President, 1 Vice-President, Treasurer, Secretary, and ISHA Representative.
C.  Officers
     1.  President
          a.  Shall have full voting privileges on the Executive Committee.
          b.  Shall be responsible for recruitment of members.
          c.  Shall be active in representing the Association at all necessary functions.
          d.  Shall call and preside at all regular meetings.
          e.  Shall call special meetings as necessary.
          f.  Shall prepare and present agenda for all meetings.
          g.  Shall call and preside at all Executive Committee meetings.
          h.  Shall appoint committee chairpersons.
           i.  Shall be responsible for collecting all postal mail related to the association.
