Primus, negro man, formerly of Hatfield, in Hampshire County, in Province of Mass. Bay, in New England, and of late belonging to Wethersfield, in the County of Hartford and Colony of Connecticut, now, on the 16 day of November, about 9 of the clock in the morning, deceased being at the dwelling house of Samuel Dyx in sd. Wethersfield, and sensible his death was drawing on or near, as he supposed on sd. day before his decease, having a desire to settle and dispose of what estate he had gotten and earned in the world (Mary the wife of Samuel Dyx and Mary the wife of
Jonathan Blynn being then present), declared what his mind and will was as to his estate, and they were desired to take notice thereof. The sd. Mary Dyx says that she heard sd. negro man say that he had about 5 loads of Indian corne at Bezaleel Lattemore's, and about 40 bushels of oats, and sd. Lattemore owed him 10-05-00 in money; and John Dyx owes him 5 mony, and Daniel Warner something, they could not tell what it was; and further, he said he would have Noadiah Dickinson and Daniel Warner, Jr., take care of sd. corne and mony, and git it in and pay his just debts, and the remainder they might have between them. The above written was writt on the 17th day of November, 1731, by me, David Goodrich, Justice of the Peace.
Before the Court of Probates holden at Hartford, 4th April, Ann. Dom. 1732, then personally appeared Noadiah Dickinson and Mary Dyx, both of lawfull age, and made oath to the truth of the above written nuncupative or verball will of Primus, negro, and it is proved and approved to be sd. negro's will so far as it relates to Daniel Warner, Jr.
Talcott, Judge.

He was Ensign of Archibald McNeile's Company from Goshenin the 1762 French and Indian campaign (Collections of the Connecticut Historical Society, 10 [1905]:337-338" p.320 "In 1782, Elisha Blin, originally we think from CT, but who appears for a time to have resided in Richmond (MA), moved into town and purchased the land and buildings then standing, where C. T. Collins lately lived, in the south east part of the village. Here Mr. Blin-as his predecessors on the premises had done-kept a tavern and also officiated as deputy under High Sheriff Caleb Hyde, but in 1788, bought the farm lately owned by David Leavitt, on the east side of the river and, not long after, removed to it. Mr. Blin is presumed to have left town about 1796, when he sold his farm to John Gibson. We have no information of his family except that derived from a tombstone in the upper burial ground, which commemorates the death of two of his sons, Erastus and Elisha, aged 16 and 12 years, "both unfortunately drowned in the Housatonic River, May 25, 1782." pg. 330

Notes on
Chester Blinn (son of Simon) from ancestry.com
"From Mrs. Henry Tracy...Chester married 1st Peggy Clyde, mother of Eliza, who died 1817 and then Clarissa Lake, m. 1818, died 1819. Then Hannah Clyde, married 34 years and 3 children who all died. Then he married Sally Clyde, who did not live long. There is an interesting fifth wife, a Margaret Koegh who came from Canada, who had a daughter and was his housekeeper. They got married but she had a hard time proving it when she applied for his pension after his death, as the town people did not want to give it to her. She then went back to Canada. Also, one of the wives would not live with Chester and after they married she never left home and the marriage was annulled. Also, there is a story that he gave one of the women $300 to leave him." Chester's marriage to Clarissa Lake in 1818 annulled as they never lived together.

"I  come through the Clyde line and I can give you some corrections on Chester Blinn and his wives.  Chester Blinn was married to Margaret (Peggy) Clyde and Hannah Clyde, but he was not married to their sister Sarah (Sally). Sally Clyde was married to Chester's brother Jonathan.  Jonathan died quite young and Sally married twice after Jonathan's death.  All three husbands were named Jonathan.  She left Vermont and moved to Wisconsin.  The Bounty Land papers for their father states that Sally was married to Jonathan.

from Men of Vermont: An Illustrated Biographical History of Vermonters and Sons of Vermont.
PART III BIOGRAPHIES OF SONS OF VERMONT
Blinn, Charles Henry,of San Francisco, Cal., son of Chauncy and Edatha (Harrington) Blinn, was born in Burlington, Jan. 27, 1843.  Educated in the schools of his native place, he was prepared for the University of Vermont, when he entered the army. He enlisted, August 21, 1861, in the famous 1st Vt. Cavalry, serving three years and four months. He was attached to Sheridan's Cavalry Corps; participated in the battles of Gettysburg, Chancellorsville, Spottsylvania, Cold Harbor, Wilderness, Winchester, Cedar Creek, and twenty-six skirmishes. He was wounded and taken prisoner at Middletown, Va., May 25, 1862, in a cavalry charge led by General Banks; his horse was killed by a cannon ball from a battery stationed within three hundred yards, fell with sixteen others and was ridden over by a company of the 1st Maine Cavalry; was in prison at Lynchburg and Belle Island, Va., from May 25 to Sept. 17. His regiment has the honor of having captured at Cedar Creek forty-two cannon, the largest number taken by any regiment during the war. He was honorably discharged at Burlington, Nov. 19, 1864. [p.22] After the war he was two years chief clerk at the Welden House, St. Albans. He went to California in 1868, and for six years was with the Wells-Fargo Express Co. In 1875 he became an editorial writer of the Alta California. In 1878 he was appointed chief permit clerk in the San Francisco Custom House, which position he still fills. The positions he has occupied in the Grand Army of the Republic are too many for our space; suffice it to say, he is now quartermaster and secretary of Veteran Guard, G. A. R., George H. Thomas Post, etc. For five years he has been secretary of the Pacific Coast Association, Native Sons of Vermont. He is a regular attendant and contributor to Simpson Memorial Methodist Church.  He was married, Dec. 15, 1870, to Nellie, daughter of Albert and Lucy Holbrook, of Salem, N. H. She is (1894) the leading elocutionist of the Pacific Coast. Mrs. Blinn is a powerful political speaker, and took the stump for Hayes, Garfield, Blaine, and Harrison. Their union was blessed with a son: Holbrook, born in 1872, graduated at Boy's high school, spent two years in college, and is now a rising young actor.

Holbrook Blinn - Actor. Holbrook was a popular stage star at the beginning of the century. He was snapped up by film producer Lewis J. Selznick (father of David O. and Myron) in 1915 for the newly formed Republic Selznick-Select Company.  His stage training was an invaluable asset in his creation of characters. He was extremely talented with makeup and could completely transform himself like Lon Chaney, Conrad Veidt and John Barrymore. Without makeup, he was very handsome - and a favorite of the ladies. Blinn appeared in several notable films of the 1920s, including Rosita (United Artists, 1923), with Mary Pickford, and three Marion Davies features, Janice Meredith (Cosmopolitan Pictures, for Metro, 1924), Yolanda (Cosmopolitan, released through Metro-Goldwyn, 1924) and Zander the Great (Cosmopolitan, released through Metro-Goldwyn, 1925). This distinguished actor did not make it to talkies, for he died suddenly in a horseback riding accident in 1928.

At the old Lincoln School, where he was taught by Miss Nellie Holbrook, afterward the mother of the distinguished actor, Holbrook Blinn, young David was noted for his stirring recitations. During his school days, in order to eke out the none too plentiful resources of his parents, the large-eyed, poetic-looking boy made the rounds of the cafes, singing and reciting for the amusement of the crowds. It was on San Francisco streets, in those stirring times, that he studied life and character
