| The federal census in America was first taken in 1790 and has been every ten years since. Remember that the federal censuses before 1850 only listed the name of the head of the household, after then everyone's name was listed. Also the census of 1890 was lost for many areas due to negligence and accidents. They are not available to the public for eighty years. Other censuses that I have found are listed here as well as the American federal censuses. | |||||||||||||
| These are ordered by state or province. Remember that they are far from complete, they are only the result, for the most part, of internet searches that I had stored in my computer and thought they might be handy for others to see. I think that census records are most handy when you can see the data in order as taken. It is easier then to tell family groups etc. At least this way you can request censuses with the year and area if you see something that interests you. Wouldn't it be great if the federal government had every person on every census in one huge database we could access. Below are the links to the information. | |||||||||||||
