Dresden was almost completely destroyed during WW II.  However, they have undertaken lots of reconstruction and they have some beautifully restored buildings now.

They also have a cool new glass enclosed VW factory which I unfortunately don't have a picture of.

This is the opera house.  From brochures I saw that the interior is worth seeing.  It was closed.
