Yes! It  all  started on that day, at that place and at that time.  We were all sitting and talking about many things and suddenly one of us asked " why not we keep aside one-tenth of our monthly salaries and  use that amount for helping the needy.?". A moment of silence. Everyone looked at each other. And then an unanimous "YES!". There at that moment of time KARUNA was born. (Though the  name was finalized a few days after).

Once the idea was accepted the planning and discussions started. Of course in  Indian Coffee House  and over many days and many cups of coffee (but nowadays we are all cutting down on the coffee and  adding the amount  thus saved to the  charity fund!). All those who were present at our table  on 21 April (there were ten of us!) were made life members and we decided on the way of functioning and other formalities.

We all pray that we will have the strength and drive to make this idea work now and forever and also to always remind ourselves "not to get tired of doing good".
