Welcome to the Buckingham's

So many decisions!

Color chart for the birch cabinets from KraftMaid

We headed out to Lowe's last Sunday. It is hard for a woman who hates wood to find cabinets - trust me. Jeff called me from over in a corner - he had found a display of cabinetsKraftMaid which were stained blue on birch - I liked them (liked the green better but our tile is blue) I picked out the handles, silver w/leaves on the ends and they are antiqued. We are going to have glass in all the top cabinets - we still have to choose between the glass that matches our front door & another one. What do you think?

This one has an example of the finish on the door around the glass. This one is very different and I am attracted to it. This one matches our front door.

The price - anywhere from $80 - $128 per liner foot - plus installation if we choose. We have decided to go to Bay City Plywood, a local company where we get our floor tile ($.99 per sq. ft. over $2.49 at Home Depot, for the same thing.) Jeff said that they come out to your home, I called them and was told as long as you are home before 5p they will come out. That makes me very angry. In the society we have today it is ridiculous for a service person to keep those hours. I will be writing the owner today. Anyway, we still have that to do. Moen I have chose the faucet I want. I am still looking for the sink - I want the 2 large sinks w/a smaller one for the disposal (I am tired of grinding up my spoons!

The ceiling I am going to do in silver tin or else I will find wallpaper that resembles tin and do that.

I am not sure about what we will do with the counter tops and back splash. Right now we have white tile - I am thinking of going with that and have asked a young man I work with to check with his dad (a tile salesman) to get me little 2"x3" tiles that have French "food" words on it (I saw them in June 98 Southern Living magazine). So we will see. If I go with the white on the counter tops, we will use the blue grout that we use on the floors. Who knows.

Well, that is where we are today (5/19/98). I'll keep you posted!

Let's check out the next step!Let's head back where we began!
