Founded in March 2000 by Michael Sweet after his team transfered from a University (Victoria Varsity, Wellington) squad which could merely supply the 100 year old shirts and a half baked end of year booze up! Waterside Karori were keen to sign us, so full kit, club bar, sponsor and home ground included we agreed and started our first season in Wellington's 6th division. The Slapperz have not ventured out of Capital Six, despite winning promotion in 2005 as the leagues all changed to make room for the Central League and no-one got promoted at the end of that season -DOH!
This, the 2008 season sees the return of Slapperz all-stars Geeza, Story, Fitz, Steve-O, Barts, Wrighty, Bison, Jason, Gazz, Clive, Tom and Bill and we introduce two new fellas, Bram and James.
So promoted to Capital Five we have been promised new kit and alot more home games at KP than last season (well two, would be double, but should have nine.

*The name Slapperz..well you can blame alot of beer when that was decided, we think (though can't confirm) that the name was to mock the stupid endings that American's have for their teams and we thought it would be cheeky to get it printed in the paper every Thursday. The Z at the end is a hack at the old New Zealand team in the Aussie league.(the Football Kingz)..funny? not really but that's the Slapperz...
