Detail of the new peacock light.
Reproduction canvas of Waterhouse's Circe Invidiosa. Karl made the frame, and I spray-painted it gold, and antiqued it with brown shoe polish.

The front room now! Note the stained glass window, refinished floors, and wallpaper! The furniture are reproductions, but even the springs are hand-tied, just like old times. The wood on the furniture is hand carved mahagony, and upholstered in silk. The marble statue is "The Bather" by Falconet. This room has been re-painted four times, I really did like the green with the gold glaze, but it was to much of a transition for the eye from the parlour. This silver/blue is easier to look at. Flokati wool rug.
The silver service! The table top is carrera marble.
The front room as it looked when we purchased the place. The fan was not in a box, the ceiling paper was falling and was painted with lead paint, and the floors were faded.
The front room of the Victorian home was typically for the lady of the house. The concept of bay windows came about for the woman to gain a better perspective of who was coming to visit. Today, the front room would house very fine furniture, and guests would not enter unless invited.
This is Waterhouse's Hylas and the Water Nymphs.
