In spite of this, the colonists drained the swampland, uncovering what proved to be dynamically fertile land able to sustain a large farming population. Among the native amphibian life-forms that survived in the �frog-farm� preserves are several that have became delicacies and are exported as gourmet items. Only the liberal use of chemical weapons against those forts allowed the Blakists to secure the planet. The cost of victory was the near-destruction of the planet�s agricultural industry. Glastonbury�s largest river, the Graham River, was so contaminated that it wrecked the entire ecosystem of the continent.
