Many graduates achieved great success in science and culture. More than 90 of these graduates were granted the Doctor of Philosophy degree, and 26 were elected as actual members and corresponding members of the Academy of Sciences or Academy of Fine Arts (see the list). Volobuyev, Vice Admirals; P.V. Rimsky-Korsakov, V.A. Petrovsky, Counter Admirals; A.N. Benois, N.K. Roerich, K.A. Somov, A.E. Yakovlev � men of culture members of the World of Art association; O.G. G.M. Grechko, the astronaut who was twice awarded the Hero of the Soviet Union and who was also a Doctor of Physics and Mathematics, shared his very warm recollections about the school. It must be also noted that O.D. Khvolson, in 1926, was one of the first who was awarded the honorary title Hero of Labour. In addition, the honorary title of Hero of Socialistic Labour was awarded to three graduates: V.V. Volkov, D.S. Likhachev, V.V. Novozhilov, Also, the graduates V.V. Belomorets, V.D.Nalivkin, V.V. Novozhilov and M.A. Yeliashevich were granted Lenin Award.
