Monday:
So apparently faxing things overseas doesn't work
particularly well from our school's office: I've been
trying to send a bunch of jazz choir charts to John in
Edmonton, but no go. Sorry, John! It's gonna have to
go through snail mail.

Wednesday:
Salsa class was so much better tonight! There are
actually some reasonably attractive guys who can dance
in the class now, and the wooden man from week 2 was
nowhere to be found. There's 2 teachers for the
class-- Joey is an American guy, and Helen, who is
Korean, but perfectly fluent in English. I've been
getting along really well with Helen (there usually
aren't enough guys, so she dances the guy's part in
class), and she's always inviting me to practise
parties, extra classes, etc.

Thursday:
Having smaller improv classes is SO much better!
Today I had a practical class for my 1st year
students-- there's only 12 people in each of the 1st
year Iksan classes, so I set them up in a circle
formation (less intimidating, more "community" like)
and did a bunch of "round the circle" kind of
improvising exercises. It's much easier to make
students comfortable with improvising when they don't
have to worry about embarrassing themselves in front
of a class of 50 people. Yeah, it sucks that I have to
do 6 hours of pure lecturing each week, but my
students will learn so much more this year . . .

Saturday:
I am officially laying low this weekend. I've got a
cold, and want to beat it before it
escalates.(remember what happened my first year here
when I was sick for 6 months!?)
It is occurring to me as I write this that it is
actually Easter weekend at home-- obviously Easter
isn't really a big thing over here, and I kind of
forgot that it was a holiday back home. Holidays
never really feel like holidays over here. I mean, I
guess that Christmas is really the only one that
overlaps, but the past 2 Christmases really haven't
felt like Christmas anyway. Here the big ones are
Lunar New Year and Chuseok (kind of like the Korean
version of Thanksgiving). But even those don't really
have any effect on my daily life: I guess every
weekend is a long weekend for me, so having time off
doesn't really feel so significant.
