Week 49 - Y2 (Feb 4th to Feb 10th) |

Sunday Feb 4th,
Today Jenny and Annabelle stopped by to bring me a
week's worth of groceries and enough DVDs to last for
a week. I was just happy for some company. I'm
totally going stir-crazy!
Also, Jae called today, having heard about my foot and
my apartment situation, and very generously offered to
put me up at his house for a couple of months so that
I don't have to stress about finding a place right
away. Thank god I've got such a good boss!

Wednesday Feb 7th,
Since I'm kind of stuck in my apartment most of the
time, there won't be much to add this week!
I did find out today that I definitely have to move at
the end of the month. Oak Young talked to my landlord
again, and once again, she refused to lower the $100
rent hike. So now Kwon Hyun is looking for an
apartment for me. This is going to be a huge pain in
the ass, and I'm worried that I'm going to end up with
an apartment crappier than my apartment already is.

Thursday Feb 8th,
I made my first venture out to the corner grocery
store on my own today. It was kind of awkward, trying
to pick up the items I wanted with both hands occupied
by the crutches and what not, but the family that owns
the store was pretty good about helping me out. Good
to know that I don't have to beg my friends to bring
me bottles of aloe juice every couple of days!
In some ways, it's actually better that I have an
injured foot here instead of in Toronto-- people are
much more sympathetic and helpful here than I suspect
they'd be in TO. Plus cab fare is a whole lot cheaper
here than at home. On the flipside, I've recently
noticed how uneven and pot-hole-ridden the sidewalks
of Seoul are . . .

Friday Feb 9th,
Today was the graduation cereomony for our PaekChe
students down in Iksan.
Getting on the school bus was kind of a challenge, and
sitting in the tiny seats without being able to put my
bad foot up was even worse. But it was good to see
all my graduating students. That said, I missed the
actual ceremony-- my work visa expires at the
beginning of March, so the office assistant had to
drive me to the immigration office in Jeonju to get my
visa extension approved. There was lots of time to
catch up with my former students before and after
though. I miss them! |
