Tuesday Jan 24th, Tonight we had our second "musician's forum" at
Vance's place. As I suspected, there was almost no playing involved, and it seems that what was supposed to be a sharing of musical ideas has turned into "let's give Vance ideas for samples" kind of thing.
Not that there's anything wrong with that, but I naively expected more. As far as Daegu Tones, the band is kind of on hold right now. Phil is going home for a couple of weeks, as is Susan, and we certainly
can't do gigs without a bass player. I'm not too upset about it. I feel like I need to streamline my life a little, spend more quality time singing, and spend more quality time socializing (meaning only
going out when I really feel like it, instead of being around people because I feel obligated, and only singing things that are worthwhile to me). I guess I've been here too long!

Friday Jan 27th, I had a very mysterious allergic reaction tonight.
After work, Sue ordered kimbap (seaweed and rice rolls), mandu (dumplings), and tteokbogki (spicy rice noodles), all things that I've had a million times before. But for some reason, this time it made me
really sick. Same as usual, swelling up, throwing up, unable to breathe. It really scares me that food that is so routine to me could cause such a reaction. I think I need to get an allergy test done to make sure that nothing else is going on here. First pizza, now
mandu and kimbap. What else can I eat?

Saturday Jan 28th, Tonight I had a nice chill night at Ryan and Lindsey's place. One thing I really miss about home is the whole house party idea. House parties are so much nicer and more intimate. But here, very few people have apartments that are big enough for such things. Ryan and Lindsey don't have a ton of space, but enough
for 6 or so people. Good times, nice to only be around people that I know and like.
