Week 2- Y3(Mar 18th to Mar 24th)
Tuesday: Some new students at the hagwon today, including a male student who is a beginner and doesn't even know how to read music yet, but shows some serious potential and has a beautiful natural sound. Since I'm losing all 6 of my favourite girls after this semester (they're graduating), I'll be happy to have some good students to fill their shoes.
Wednesday: Tonight I had my first salsa class! I was a little concerned about doing it with a slightly gimpy foot, but it turned out alright after all. The class is taught at a studio that caters towards foreigners, so everything was in English, which was a nice bonus. Tonight was just easy beginner stuff-- basic steps and a few turns-- but it was really fun! Most of the men in the class were not very good with the steps, but there was one guy who lived in Venezuela for awhile, and he had his moves down, so I spent most of the class paired with him. It is SO good to be dancing again!
Thursday: Wow. 6 improv classes a week may make me a little batty. I forgot how hard it can be to project your voice to 50 students all day. I'm tired!
Saturday: Today I went down to Daegu for Ali's going away party--her father is pretty ill, so she's gotta leave her contract early and go back to England to be with her family. What sucks the most about it is that her hagwon is being ridiculous about the situation, and making things way more difficult for her to leave right now. Anyway, a big group of us went out to our favourite galbi restaurant for dinner. It was awesome to see pretty much everyone I knew from Daegu-- even people that I haven't run into for a year or so! Also cool to meet some of the next generation of Daegu-ers. At dinner, there was quite a lot of soju, so by the time we left the restaurant, we were already a little sloppy . . . after dinner, we headed over to Juillards for some crazy cocktails, and then over to Communes, which was packed with people! Good for Hyun Shic-- lots of business for him! After Communes, we headed over to Organ Bar and spent the rest of the night dancing in our sock feet to really cool music. Apparently we danced a lot longer than any of us realized . . . when we got outside it was light out! That was the first time I realized that it was actually 7:30 in the morning . . . it's been awhile since I've pulled that move!
