Week 14 - Y2 (June 4th to June 10th)
Monday June 5th, I'm getting antsy, my students are getting antsy. It's time for the end of the semester! Next week is exam week, so I've been frantically trying to prepare my private students for their vocal performance exams. Here's how their exams will be structured, as decided by the other vocal teachers and I, based on last year's exam: each student selects a song, that is approved by the private teacher. Then the student must perform this song in front of the other students, and a panel of vocal teachers. This all sounds pretty straightforward, but Ben pointed out to me that the other vocal teachers may try to give lower marks to my students out of jealousy. Ah politics!
Tuesday June 6th, Another national holiday today, no school. But I have so much work to do right now that I don't have time for fun!
Friday June 9th, I had to go to Daegu today to pick up my plane tickets from my travel agent. Imagine my surprise when he handed me an e-ticket, thus making my entire trip pointless . . . I stayed on to meet Ryan, Lindsey, Joe and Mike for dinner, but I had to go back to Seoul on the last train, because of my private students tomorrow afternoon. As much as I like having the extra money that this private brings in, it's really ruining my weekends! This was the first day I've been out of Seoul for a month, and I couldn't even stay! And while Seoul is a great city and all, everyone that I really want to spend time with is in Daegu. And I keep on getting great invitations, to spend the weekend on the beach, or to go to windsurfing competitions, or to rooftop barbecues. But none of these things are happening in Seoul, and I end up not being able to go to any of them! I suppose on the bright side, I'm saving some money that I'd be spending on train tickets . . . but when I come back from vacation, I'm definitly changing the day and time of this private!
