Biography
Karen grew up on the edge of the Great South Bay
in Islip, New York. She has a BFA in Fine Arts and a BA in
English from Boston College. After graduating with an
award in Studio Art, Karen worked in marketing and painted murals
for commercial & residential interiors while obtaining her
pilot's license.
In 2005, Karen enrolled in the Surface and Textile Design BFA
Program at FIT in New York City and will graduate with honors
this May. She currently lives with her husband in Manhattan.
What she says about her work:
"My designs are about transformation. When I design for home
or fashion, I am thinking about transporting people from the ordinary
to the magical." Karen's work is influenced by her travels around the
globe, a year in Thailand, her garden and the people in her life.
