Meknčs (and around)
Volubilis

With only one day of cycling left, we arrive in Volubis and its ancient roman ruins. The place is very touristic (it's very close to Meknes by bus), and the only local hotel is five star with a view over the ruins and over priced rooms. Luckily, we meet Said (far left on the picture), who sells postcardst to tourists for pocket money. He invites us to spend the night with his family at his place, just above the hotel. As he says, the view over the ruins are even better, which makes it a 6 star hotel!

The ruins were build around the 3rd century ac, and are very well preserved. There is an entrace fee , and the site can be overcrowded as tourist buses flow all day long. But a quick visit is required, even without being a "connaisseur".

So we'll just enjoy a break near the ruins ...

From Volubilis, there isn't far left to Meknes!

We stop at Moulay Idriss, a small village whose mosolay attracts many many tourists.

On the road to Meknes, a beautifull local mosque is lost in cactus.

We arrive in Meknes, after a 400km long ride ... so we take a day to relax and visit the city before going back to Tangier.
And Ben has a shave on the very popular El Hedim square
The Ismain mosole is the biggest tourist attraction in Meknes. The place is absolutely amasing, with huge bright rooms directly opened to the sky. Too bad some visitors can't keep quiet, and we soon forget that we are on holly ground.
